Just put a block under sidestand - always check my bikes (multi, blade, sp3) as above with never a mishap ...oh and in gear.
Check your oil/water level once a week, it takes minutes and could save you a load of grief and expense. I have a 100ml syringe for the oil with a piece of pipe on the spout, allows you to fill in a controlled manner.
So. My crude approximation is as follows after re filling. Bottom of sight glass to minimum 100mls Minimum to maximum 200mls.
On my str800 2 valve accurate oil level is with both wheels on the ground , bike upright, not leaning on side stand, on the sidestand sight glass shows empty, check it as you would when its being ridden, dont know if this applies to your engine.
