  6. One of my funniest memories of young adulthood is holding two half full pints while standing outside the toilets in a very rough pub (eg: it had netting fitted in anticipation of people being thrown off the first floor mezzanine) when a huge Wild West saloon style fight broke out and someone lamped me for no reason, but despite being knocked to the floor I didn’t spill a drop from either glass. :D

On another occasion I escaped very serious injury when someone picked up one of those huge heavy pub ashtrays and was about to bring it down on the back of my head, but one of my quick thinking mates plucked it out of the guy’s hand, so a blow that was intended to brain me ended up as a rather floppy and ineffectual karate chop. :astonished:

  10. "Aaahhhh shook up the world"

On this day in 1964 Cassius Clay, 22, defeated Sonny Liston to become world heavyweight boxing champion.

  11. See... I told you they don't make 'em like they used to "Dick Hyland and Ray Campbell after a fight in 1913. It lasted 110 rounds, 7 hr 19 min (9:15 p.m.-4:34 a.m.), and was declared a no contest (later changed to a draw)."

  13. Hard to call.

I don’t think AJ will get caught out like Fury did but you never know.

  14. Zhang to beat Parker (Wilder looked shocking so the win flattered him, plus Zhang is absolutely enormous c.290lb)

AJ to beat Ngannou (Fury was badly out of shape and didn’t take the fight seriously, which again, flattered Ngannou). Ngannou has a puncher’s chance though, especially seeing as AJ has the body of a Greek statue and is about as mobile.

  15. I've always liked Parker as a boxer so against all logic I reckon he may have the movement & skills to dance around Zhang.

And Joshua has shown before he has a weak chin so he better be at his best because one clump from Ngannou & it'll be good night nurse. And he may have learnt enough from the Fury fight to do exactly that.

  18. That was a hell of a brutal knock out. He threw that punch from the back row :astonished:

  19. Just watched it all on YouTube. Super impressive ko by AJ. But looked so easy due to lack of movement from Ngannou. Tbf the pundits called it right- early AJ ko. And so it was… ooft :astonished: I see twat boy Eddie was getting all giddy afterwards. He’s quickly forgotten his boys double defeat to Usyk.

Styles make fights as they say. AJ couldn’t dismantle Usyk. I’d imagine a focused Fury would be difficult to unlock too. Interesting couple of fights ahead.

Pleased for Parker. I watched the highlights and see he conceded two 10-8 rounds. Zhang didn’t look too chuffed at the result. Was it a fair call? I haven’t had time to watch it all yet…
