Ok Fight Fans - Best Ever Boxing Punch?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Andy Bee, Aug 22, 2022.

  1. Just watched some of the highlights and in round one AJ looked heavy on his toes, slow & ponderous even before he got clumped at the end of it.

No movement, a low guard & chin high was just asking for a big overhand right which duly came. I dunno what his tactics were for the fight but they couldn't have been that.

Just seen Zhed's comment posted at the same time - snap!!

  2. And did anyone else notice Dubois looking outside the ring when they were in the clinch just before he threw the two overhead rights the first of which missed & the second that didn't?

  3. Rematches are only intriguing if the 1st dust up was close. This wasn’t. As zed says, he should enjoy his millions. A showbiz career awaits- the BBC will be all over him…

AJ isn't BBC presenter material at all imo, unless its just for odd ringside events. He doesn't have the voice, polish or charm & smooth one liners. He has done very well for himself already, I wish him well and hope he now steps back and doesn't get hurt.

  5. Just because he’s not Lineker doesn’t mean the BBC won’t be all over him. Remember Fraudly Harrison? The BBC threw him a £1m contract as soon as he conned the judges to a gold medal at the Olympics.

Anyhow, the BBC pay peanuts compared to what he’s used to. And I hope he retires too. Just to piss off the grasping fuckers at Matchroom.

  7. I’m surprised that punch didn’t break his jaw

  8. Ooft, that looks painful :confounded: I’ll stick to fishing…

  9. Have you noticed the 'Shreking' of his right ear.

  11. Boxing on now. Main event is Beterbiev v Bivol, but there’s also a stellar undercard. Eubank Jr, Ben Whittaker and then there’s the Wardley v Clark rematch. Their first fight was an absolute cracker (I was there) so fingers crossed they go at it again tonight.

  13. I’m a fan of Whittaker, but both my son and I reckon he faked that injury because Cameron was starting to cause him problems and he also looked gassed. I was saying before the fight that he looks too skinny and if he ends up in a bit of a war he might have nothing in reserve.

  14. I’m putting this out there early. I wonder if he injured his back and suffered a pinched sciatic nerve. I have a piece of bone floating around my lower spine area and every now and again it impinges the nerve, which gives me a dead leg. It also sometimes makes me draw my knee towards my chest in an attempt to relieve the pain, which is what Whittaker was doing at one point.

  15. Was Whittaker showboating & dicking around like he's done in his previous fights?

  16. No. He also played it straight in his last fight at Selhurst Rd and although he won, he didn’t look all that convincing then either.

  17. Fabio Wardley. Wow.

    Give him Joshua next

  18. No real mad rush, for him.

I would say Chisora or Whyte first, then AJ.

  19. Ha! Cometh the moment cometh the chickens home to roost.

  20. AJ will have retired by then.
