When my brother had his off it was similar to yours, he started over thinking the whys and what if's to a point where he couldn't understand the dynamics of the crash. To date he has never got on a bike again due to the whys and what if's I even tried to tease him back in to biking with a low powered 750 in-line four he was tempted but said no some 10 seconds after the offer.
Oooouch it is the following days that it hurts more I fractured one and dislocated the other and fractured my collar bone all in one go Having no arms to use is a nightmare I feel your pain oldie
At least I have one useable arm. I was so lucky that my off didn’t involve hitting any thing other than horizontal road and that the energy was largely absorbed by tumbling and sliding. I was also lucky that I was wearing a large backpack full of soft sailing gear that probably acted a bit like an airbag and protected my back. I lost mercifully little skin
Bugger. Back, ribs and both hands here. Your back + legs probably trumps that. You play to win, Andy!
My hands were absolutely fine. The gloves my daughter bought me for my birthday really did their job. My ribs were very sore but are much better now My foot had something happen to it but I’ve no clue what it was. Again, much better now. Soooo lucky... Nurses kept asking me if I was wearing a helmet because they assumed that bike meant bicycle. 6 weeks in a sling from tomorrow, followed by gradual rehabilitation but it could have been soooo much worse.
Because they never lock up the wheel, just reducing the rotation compared to speed...I use it a lot in tight turns, it helps "steering" with the rear. Hold on this is enduro/mx not tarmac. Get well soon & don't be to hard on yourself we all been there...
I should never have put myself in the position of having to brake so hard from such a high speed. Sadly, I have no one to blame other than myself. I think I might recommend abs though...
Never rode a bike with abs I assume it’s the same as a car. Have to had a look at the bike yet is it repairable. Think I will make it 3-4 pints to help the healing process
When ABS first came in on bikes it was reported that Ducati had the best system (ST4s as I remember) all other makes were clunky in comparison. I've never tried it and didn't want to have it in a car either (luddite me ) but I can see advantages in emergency situations - or make mental note to practice emergency stops regularly I'm of the opinion that Ducati will probably still make the best bike ABS so try one of theirs first
I haven’t either, have to say but it would have prevented this one. Need to replace r/h footpeg (just the part that moves) R/h rear indicator Brake levers (only the sliding part on the foot brake lever, main lever is ok. R/h Crash bungs (did a great job and have absorbed a lot of sacrificial damage) Screen Screen bulb holder Screen and mirror support casting Mirrors Seat unit needs professional filling and spraying and new decals R/h fairing ditto Open clutch cover too but I can do that Tank is fine Think front mudguard and l/h fairing are fine Not sure about nose fairing but may be ok Wheels, forks and swing arm are fine
