Been out for an hour and it is NOT my imagination, the bike is so much smoother. Here's another confirmation..I could never ride this bike at 60mph without a load of messing about, today I sat at 60 in 5th gear and it was lovely, it even went into 6th without any fuss at the same speed. I used to avoid 30mph zones as much as poss, now it's a breeze. I don't know what's happened but it has..the only other thing I did whilst the bike was having it's belts changed was to remove the clutch and clean it out, put it all back together and ran some new fluid through it. I was wondering if the choke was sticking on slightly and for some reason it's released, I don't know.
My bike ran perfect, 2 weeks ago a mechanic put new belts and spark plugs in without me wanting him too. It's now a bitch to start cold and fuelling seems out at low revs. Just regapped the spark plugs and still the same. I went from @Exige belts to Ducati belts. Not happy.
Devine intervention :Angelic: If they thought his new belts were worn and that was true, then his new ones look worn after 100 miles, I initially thought his idler bearings might be seizing and wearing the print off. But they seem to be free from his checks. Very strange...
You had us til you mentioned the choke sticking on You should have mentioned that this machine is a special, notorious to fettle and very prone to being temperamental:Troll:
Don't think the choke would cause rough running as it's just a fast idle on an injected bike. My money would be on something electrical that's been disturbed when the covers have been removed like a plug cap that wasn't connected quite right.
No I've ran out but WD40 is just as good..well nearly. Anyway if you read the small print there's no mention of fixing Ducati's just bodily ailments. I never went near the choke, it was just a thought but it's not that then. Could have been a plug cap I guess although I think I would have noticed one that was loose. Strange one.
The choke mechanism on the carbed SSs can sometimes stick slightly open if it hasn't been maintained for several thousand miles and it has got really dirty, so one day it will be alright and another it will cause slight rough running. I don't know if an injected model has the same mechanism......I doubt it, though.
Took the DS SS out again yesterday as the weather was good and it is running so much better, don't ask me what has happened but it has and for that I am very happy. I'm looking for another one now (1000SS) as I love this bike and can't imagine life without one..did fancy a 749S but at 45 I think i'm too old and fat for one..any old fatty's out there with a 749? doesn't have to be S.!!
That's encouraging to know, I thought the ergo's were pretty harsh but it seems they might be the same or better than the SSie which I find really comfy actually although haven't done a big ride on it yet maybe 1.5hr tops.
