On The Hunt For A New Bike...

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by comfysofa, Mar 22, 2015.

  1. Funny that the salesman said in riders while i was looking at one waiting for my mot "go on...sit on it, try it out..." i told him id rather sit on a rusty fork...

  2. Have been out on both today as my dad owns a speed tripple r 14 plate and my uncle has just brought a 15 plate z thou.

The z's bars are ever so slightly lower as the seat height is but you feel slightly more hunched on the z than you do on the speed IMO.

Both sound great the z has the akro full single system and the speed has the arrows but where the speed really sounds awesome is on overrun as you are approaching a roundabout, junction etc the way it pops and bangs is truly addictive.

I can't as of yet give a true or fair comparison as the zed is only on a 100 miles so couldn't give it any beans what so ever but it dose feel a liverly little number even at low rpm.
Still prefer the looks of the speed when there side by side tho, and also the ride position.

  3. Cool....can you get some pics...id love to see it...!

I do t have any of the zed on my pad but will get some through the week.

Also have a few more of the r if you need

  5. Yep....we all like photos on here!

  6. Well, twist of fate led me to get a Zed, burnt orange in colour.....had a go on the s1000r on the weekend and it left me underwhelmed, so decided it wasn't for me....so, although currently I don't have a duc at the moment ive just started laying the groundwork for an upgrade to the rsv4 to a panigale....although if everyone will have me ill be sticking around...

  7. How did that twist of fate transpire?

  8. Well....about 9 months ago our neighbour across the road bought the house next to us (Downsizing as he'd retired) but it needed renovating...when he told us he said " I want to do the roof first....want in...?" and I said, "yeah whenever you want to" - he came over last night and said "3 1/2 grand for the roof, scaffolders turn up on Friday" - so my BMW choice was kind of removed....but I will say up until last night I was undecided...still...so the roof kinda made the choice for me!

  9. Heh, circumstance has a habit of intervening on the best laid plans. Enjoy the Z1000.

  10. and kitchens are kinda rubbish without a roof

still can't decide to sell or keep the SF so I will keep for now

  11. No. Bugger off.:)

  12. Cheers lads....!

  13. Are you enjoying the MV a lot more? I can see that having 2 fairly similar bikes might well mean that one of them is redundant.

  14. That's where I was!

  15. Got a pic of the new bike? Is it one of the older orange Zeds that had the shotgun pipes? I like them. They're far less cluttered than most fours now and they look the dogs blinged up.

I think it looks pretty cool....chunky...

  17. Just spoke to chris at cjs just now....said he can map it!......yeeha.

  18. The 848 SF is a good bike, as you know I have the 1199s plenty of poke there, I took my SF out on Sunday and had a thoroughly awesome ride, even though it has less power it is a brilliant bike :) and IMHO it can be just as much of a hooligan as the 1098.

Have you considered the MV Brutale, you can pick one up new the 921 for £7,499 :)

  19. Someone did suggest the MV...I'd prefer the dragster if anything...

  20. It was just a thought.
I have looked on autotrader a total of 14 SF 1098 for sale nationally some are S some not.
Does it have to be the S version

There is a std 1098 with termi's and FSH for 8k
