My routine is to simply connect the battery charger to float / top up the battery every so often. I see no need to leave it plugged in all the time - in fact I prefer my idea as I get to see how quickly the charger goes to 'maintain', hence I get an idea of the state of the battery. The 1198 (original battery) goes more less straight there, the zzr (cheap eBay battery) not long after. The Monster however, well, that's got electrical issues... (The bikes rarely get left unused for too long though - I'm not going to able to ride them from now for a month or three however, so I'll watch the charge eaten by the 1198 when I return and plug him in - which will my first job!!!)
Yep. Thanks for the advice - but i'm in the Middle East! I'm not sure when I'll be back either. I may be back in time to tax Il Monstro (end of June ) or it may be later. Much later...

Options ate for me....more so because of the extra fittings.... Have got the USB plug and the torch...
