  8. Why...OCD?
    Perhaps....Yorkshireman or ,,,,,Scottish?

  9. You turn the power off before disconnecting from the bike. Also it wouldn't be good practice to block the switch imo.

Or maybe it's because I'm wedged between Yorkshire & Scotland.

  10. Actually an incredibly good point....completely missed by me!

  11. Do you? I thought you disconnected the Optimate from the power before connecting to the bike, I didn't think it matter disconnecting the power before disconnecting the bike?

  12. Looking at the electronics in these things I think it would extend the life of the charger if you turned it off at the wall before disconnecting the bike.

  13. I don't actually have a switch on my plug sockets, although easy enough to change, never really felt the need. Do you think it matters just pulling out of a live socket?

  14. No, but you shouldn't disconnect from the bike while the charger is live. Pulling the plug from the wall or switching it off has the same effect, disconnecting from the bike while the charger is live is different.

  15. I have read that Optimates need to "calibrate" themselves in order to charge a battery correctly. So it should be connected to the bike first and then the mains power turned on. Switching it off is as per above.

  16. Neither, but am on the box hill wassap...

  17. Yep, just as you guys said. I missed the bit about unplugging when I read TFM, I blame that on to much merriment on Christmas Day.

  18. Considering we are now in May, that must have been some party !
