could be a rather expensive learning curve,, I am considering / want one myself but just don't see anyway I can balance the bike and put it on the stand by myself ,, !!
Position the stand behind the bike, or it's planned final resting position before you move your bike. Also make sure the stand is positioned with the handle upmost and the stand arms pointing forwards. Then wheel you bike back to it. Now stand on the left of the rear tyre holding the bike with one hand on the seat and resting the left rear side of the bike against your legs and belly and use the other hand, your right, to position the paddock stand in the bobbins. If at any stage the bike wobbles, stop and reset. There is no rush. This is why bobbins / cotton reels are better than cups they are more secure Then just press the stand into the ground and once happy free your left hand. You don't need to hold into the bars when doing this procedure or holding your bike up. Just make sure it's lent very slightly into you ie to its left. If you are not happy doing it on your own get a mate round who could help. He does the stand and you do the bike. Slowly work upto it. No panicking, no rushing. Make sure you have plenty of time the first few times you do it. As I said no rush and practice will make it easy. Trust me I couldn't do it to start with. Any problems questions just ask.
that's great Spj,, very help full and considerate,,, can I just ask you tho,, what size are you,, btw I am 5' 8"
I'm six foot. My girlfriend is 5 4 and she's able to do it. Just don't rush the first few times. You'll get it.
i hope they are not just of a couple of legs sticking out from underneath it !!,,,,,,,,,,,, not even got a stand yet mate...
had a look at them today,, just small black metal " waisted " things,, don't know what they are called !!
aparently they are bobbins,, but i chose to use the nice rubber thingamabobbers which came with the new Oxford p/s,, ( needed a mate to help get it on tho )
Holy moly! I really wouldn't do that, it's very unstable. You want the other option on your paddock stand - the hooks. Use your bobbins with cups. If your bike is balancing on the rubbers and on the bobbins I'd get out with your mate now and take it off - unless it's fallen off already.
thanks, but it is not actually ballancing on the bobbins it is sitting on the swing arm and up against the bobbins , as per photo,, solid as a rock, would actually need q an effort to even pull it over..
PS,, i had it in the cups yesterday and this actally feels a whole lot better,, ( apart from not scratching the paint !! )
