1299 Paginale 1299s Insurance

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Nige, Nov 10, 2015.

  1. MCE quoted me £890 for a 1299s, with a big excess.
Ducati Insurance just came back with £550 with a £1000 excess and a requirement for a tracker. So I am going with DI. Polite, helpful.

  2. I struggled also with insurance for my 1299s, because of the value. Just for information, I understand that if you knowingly try to get insurance by devaluing your bike for instance, the insurance company may revoke their insurance and even worse not cover any subsequent claim. Nothing new there then!

After quite a bit of negotiating I ended up going with Carole Nash on a Multibike scheme. To be fair I found them very helpful and they appeared to go that extra mile trying to insure my needs. They were a little more expensive than another quote I managed to source but I felt overall they had insured my needs better.

I subsequently, after a month or so went back to them to change my requirements and that was to include pillion cover. They didn't charge me which was a surprise.

I added another bike last month (I can have up to 5 bikes on this policy) and it was added without a fuss albeit there was a charge.

Overall, I'm happy with Carole Nash. We will see what happens come renewal time of course!!

On a related note and just for information I had separate insurance on another bike with Devitt. The insurance had been running for about 8 months and I wanted to cancel it and move the bike over onto my multibike policy. I didn't expect any money back for the remaining 4 months, but I was charged £55.00 by the underwriter for cancelling it!

  3. Interesting stuff. I enquired at the NEC what it would cost to add a 1299 to my CN multibike policy. Was a bit surprised it added another £500 to the cost.

  4. not a big fan of the GAP insurance, especially if your using PCP,

  5. Why? It's actually more reason to need it as you could end up upside down finance wise.

  6. Agreed, as long as you Keep the bike for the term of the pcp and don't pay the rrp on GAP I think it's a no brainer

  8. I have tried Ducati Insurance recently, about £200 more than what Motorcycle direct are saying.

Motorcycle Direct and AA are coming up with circa £300 for my 848, 2yrs NCD, 28YO. Looking at the formats AA/Motorcylcle direct websites etc, im sure they are the same company!
