1260 Paint Damage To Frame Of New Bike

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by 999nutta, Sep 27, 2020.

  1. Cheers

  2. IMHO it does seem a factory issue, a void under the paint surface, when the bobbin was tightened up the paint has flexed and cracked. The frame metal has some oxidation from the trapped air when it was coated at factory.
Make sure your dealer and Ducati UK are aware and have evidence of correct repair to your satisfaction and coating/paint warranty is restarted from time of a satisfied repair, all should be well.

  3. Thank you. How much of a gap is there between your frame and the bobbins?
Is the oxidation the black colouring?

  4. Might be worth checking. Have the right bobbins been fitted, I’m fairly sure that the 2015 DVT don’t fit the later 1260. Spacers are slightly different.

  5. Difficult from the photo. It looked black to me in your first set, but now maybe it's sort-of silver?? Basically the paint has come off in chunks which, for whatever reason, is not right...and as a result of the dealer's actions.
    I see three issues:
    1) they put on the protectors and when doing so, damaged the crap-OEM paint
    2) they didn't notice or didn't want to notice
    3) they didn't tell you.

  6. Just had a looksee at EP and they are different part no's, DVT being 12482-01 and 1260 013903-01.
Mine are flush to the frame no discernible gap as the mounts are nipped up internally, if that makes sense!
I should of said that I assume that the black colouring was possible oxidation sorry for that, it could possibly be a corrosion protection layer?
At the end of the day there are quality questions that require answering from the dealer, who should have seen the damage and let you collect the bike and the factory that needs to investigate how voids are between coatings on parts of the frame! Keep us informed of your progress chief.
