  4. I’m close to Woodhall but work in Lincoln - or did before remote working became the new normal!

I just answered the preload question in the other thread but I’ll repeat - fully out = anti-clockwise - 2 turns in (8 clicks) for stock road or 6 turns in (24 clicks) for performance. :upyeah:

Fully recommend booking a novice only track day - far less likely to get fast people bumping down a group and a good intro to track riding.

Great way to meet other novices too.

  5. You are only a little heavier than me and full track gear adds another 11kg - you are about right really for the weight range the stock suspension supports. Especially for road riding as the bike is a bit heavily sprung for lighter riders.

You would have to really be pushing to need more than the stock forks. The suspension can be a little harsh for road riding though (especially on Lincolnshire’s roads.......) I have a Ktech DDS pro rear shock fitted and the ride and control is so plush I don’t notice bumps on track that upset other bikes - to the point that I’m not sure what mates are talking about when they discuss the circuit! So definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

I swapped out the rear shock linkage for the 1199/1299 one and set it to flat rate - the progressive rate linkage that’s on the 899/959 as stock is designed to accommodate a greater weight range and the possibility of a pillion but it is a compromise so if you only plan on solo riding, and especially if you upgrade the shock I would consider it.

I bleed the master cylinder after every track day as it only take seconds and keeps the lever nice and firm.

I have just swapped to EBC gpfax pads and they are a big improvement on stock.
