1199 Panigale R Insurance

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Niven770, Jul 25, 2014.

  1. Its wasn't though as I only paid 23 for it Big M as it's was a pair of bikes that was never collected, after being paid for in full! its a long storey.

  2. I've been with Ducati Insurance for quite a few years, on a multi bike policy and not all Ducati as I've had all sorts. I always thought they were competitive but this year they have seemed a bit steep. Admittedly, I have now changed to two brand new bikes both over £15k value but the rest is all good: license, post code, full no claims etc. I'm now at about £850 for both bikes (one Ducati, one KTM) which is a risk as one claim loses for both bikes obviously. I've protected the no claims but I think that's a crock as I've never heard of anyone not having a high premium increase for a claim regardless.

I don't renew for a few months but by the looks of this thread there are better deals around.

I think Ducati Insurance are great if you're starting out with Ducati but then get less competitive afterwards if that makes sense.

  3. I see your point but surely if the worst happened you'd want the insurance company to pay up to the tune of another 'R' if only insured for 20k you'd have to settle for a mere 'S' model. Lol! ;). How comes there were 2 fully paid bikes that were never collected? I'm intrigued.

  4. Very long story but it goes like this. a man and his "Friend" came in and he bought 2 ER6's to learn to ride on and 2 R's for when they had past their test and then they split up! one set of bikes was returned and he kept 1 set. He's obviously got money to burn.

  5. I nearly went for the S but was talked into getting the R by my girlfriend.

  6. Wow! most women would have steered you away from an 'R' in preference for an 'S' then you could have bought a new kitchen or bathroom with the change or even made you buy a base model then they could have both as a 'condition' to the bike purchase!.:D. Gay men are always loaded, it's probably they don't have women who want new kitchens and bathrooms!. Still it worked out well for you!.

  9. I've just done a compare the meerkat and get two results, one £430 one £750. Multi last year £360, this year coming in at under £200

  10. trouble ive had with these types of sites is now you will get bombarded with phone calls , then when you call them they add this add that and it ends up much more ,

  11. You got to be strong Jimmy and "just say no"!

  12. I do mate believe me , followed by another few words ,ha

  13. Just do what I do, put a phone number in that isn't yours so they can't ring you back. I always put the same number in (which isn't mine). Some poor bastard somewhere will get pestered to hell every June and October when I renew my bike insurances. :D

  15. Yes or anything starting with 0898 then they can talk to Busty Barbara about renewing the insurance on her Pani R. :Woot:

  17. LOL - I know exactly where you got your R. The "Father and Son in Law" turned up in a Bentley I believe, no pun intended.

  18. You know when i said earlier in the thread try Be Wiser insurance they have been great so far, i take it allllllllllll back! i have been royally Fu**ed over (excuse my french) and they have left me in the sh*t!

When i was looking for insurance for my Panigale all the quotes i was getting were in the region on £2000 plus! Also i had not owned my own bike policy for over 2 years so the 2 years NCB i had built up could not be used by most insurers so they had to base their quotes on 0 no claims.

Before i gave up the search on the Panigale and went looking at lesser value bikes,i was put through to Be Wiser as i was told they would be able to use insurers who can use no claims over 2 years old. All went well spoke to the chap on the phone explained my situation about my NCB being over 2 years old and he said he may be able to use them and asked me to send him the proof through. Sent it all through to him and he came back to me a couple of days later with a quote from Zenith insurance saying he had been able to use my NCB.

Based on this info i set out looking for the right pani. Finally picked her up got the insurance sorted, done! or so i thought! Had a phone call Tuesday from the audit team saying that they had looked into my policy and realized Zenith don't actually accept NCB over 2 years old! I asked why wasnt this information picked up or even told to me before selling me the policy, and unfortunately for me they could not answer. All they could tell me is that my insurance is more than likely going to be cancelled.

After being promised numerous call backs from sales advisers and about 4 different managers i didnt hear a thing! I called at least 12 times chasing up managers since Wednesday and no one could be bothered to tell me what was happening as only managers have the authority to do that. I finally get a call yesterday from a manager who says they cant find anyone who will insure me now even with 0 no claims, i am going to be charged for the amount of time i was covered, which is quite mind boggling as they can cover me for 30 days but then decide i am too much of a risk so cant cover me for the year, in my eyes i dont believe i have been covered at all. To top it all off i cant get a refund until a weeks time, so ive got an uninsured bike at the minute, and for the cherry on top i am going to have to try and find another £900 on top of the £1189 i am getting back to get the pani insured, and £900 is the best case scenario.

The most annoying thing with this is that i wouldn't have purchased the pani if the insurance was over £1300 that was my cut off point and as far as my budget would stretch.

I've wrote a letter of complaint, sent to the directors and customer service but i am not expecting much to be honest as their customer service team are as useful as a chocolate teapot . I've been in touch withe financial ombudsman service but have to wait until my complaint has been addressed before they can get involved.

I am waiting to hear back of ducati insurance, but at this moment in time i am livid and bit bloody stuck!

So here is Bazz's top tip of the day dont use the insurance company that has an Owl as their logo because they are a bunch of tits!!

  19. Get onto Trading Standards! they might not be able to sort your insurance out but they might be able to get the money you paid to Be wiser back. Plus they'll look into their business practises.

  20. Tried Trading Standards they could only offer advice as they do not investigate companies which are regulated by the financial industry or something. If its home insurance, miss-sold PPI, car/bike insurance etc then i have to get the financial ombudsman service involved who will do an impartial investigation. I have done this but i have to go through Be Wiser formal complaint process.
