tbh i think the V4 is simply a matter of time..there will always be twins in their range, after all, its whats makes Ducati unique, however on paper if there is an ever growing disparity between the twins and fours, Ducati will sadly have to move in that direction...with the fanny gusset, weve lost the trellis, weve lost the dry clutch two of the most defining elements of the marque... i guess in a new era (of which the pan handle may well historically become the gateway bike), Ducati will move to twin spar/stressed member frames and V4 lumps....the trouble is keeping that Ducati character and individuality... Tiny changes over successive bikes will essentially change the character of Ducati i guess....it would be nice to keep the genetic line though.
I've heard that the V4 Aprilia engine wont be updated and wont be relevant to WSBK in 2015 as it wont be competitive for the new rules. Seems Piaggio might think that there isn't much point in building big bikes as they sell so few.
