panigale RR on the books?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by kope999R, Aug 30, 2013.

  1. I think you are right with a cheaper (40k) model to follow.

  2. Good spot that

so you must have heard from your dealer ?

What did it look like, any distinguishing features that you'd notice ?

There has to be some sort of one off WSBK special on the way.

I reckon they will go with a double sided swing arm.

  3. Here's a photo from MOTOBLOG, its the 1199 Pnaigale for 2014. Basically a "cheaper version" of the 1199 (?). Its sporting a carbon fibre fairing though..

However, the article goes onto say that a trellis framed 1199 prototype was spotted this year at some european tracks but that it could be something to do with WSBK (?).

Maybe this bike was used as a decoy that day.....

  4. I have it on good authority from journo person that Ducati are indeed testing BOTH trellis & alloy type frame. (wouldnt say uf it was tripe,he dont tell porkies). Not sure what bike/config.

  5. I think you could be correct there.....wink wink!!

  6. I'd be embarrassed to call Kope if I were his dealer...

  7. Maybe there should be a special status for people on this forum who got the call.

  9. Lucky fuckers!

  10. Interesting thread.....

Well, FWIW, certainly no-one at ducati has called me yet about anything "special" but maybe that's because they already know that I think the Panigale is the worst Ducati I own!

Build an 800cc v4 desmosedici, like Casey's in 2007. Now I would be up for one of those!! 140kgs, 200bhp, 20,000rpm.....

  11. Ditto, nothing from Ducati to me so far...

  12. maybe you havnt got enough money.....

  13. Those spy shots are interesting, for example they are definitely 'Forged' marchesini's as per the WSBK used to wear (although probably not exactly the same). Why would they be looking to do meaningful testing on a bike with Carbon fairings or lightweight wheels if the actual bike will have have standard stuff?

I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't an earlier shot of the 899 engine in a cobbled together 1199 frame so they could just get some road testing done before final build of the swingarm/rear assembly.

  14. Not heard off Ducati....but I was asked by my dealer if they could pass my details onto Ducati!!

  15. Had something similarly vague here as well ..

  16. Same here.

  17. Yes but my dealer asked if he could pass my details on, but it's just for customer feedback, or did they say it's ref a new model?

  18. My dealer received a letter from Ducati asking them to nominate suitable persons concerning a "special" 1199. They believe it will become official around 6th Oct (Ducati global meet in Rome) and bike to be shown at EICMA. I've known about this bike since July but not the details i'm afraid, as my Ducati contacts have remained very tight lipped. Like all here, waiting to see if this will be "special"....
