Forgive me for chuckling that the Desmo boys seem to be getting offended that they are not invited into the club, although they have for others in the past where us normal riders aren't. No offence meant but really, very funny
It's understandable though isn't it...you've spent 40K+ on Ducati's top bike, lots more on running it (servicing & running costs are steep to say the least!) yet you're overlooked in being a prospective buyer! I know a forum member who has a Desmo, Panigale S & an 848 yet he hasn't had the nod...I'd be straight onto JHP if I was him! Unfortunately, with you having to be put forward by your dealer, If you've had issues with them you're screwed...I had big issues with mine & guess what, they haven't put me forward & this was despite having, at 1 time, 2 Desmo's, 2 999R's plus a number of others! A friend of mine, who has great contacts at Ducati, sorted me out big time or I would've been another disgruntled Desmo owner!
I'm prepared to bet that if you want one, have already bought a Desmo, a simple phone call is all it would take. What dealer wouldn't want to sell you one?
You'd like to think so but 12/1300 (the number of Desmo's left apparently) doesn't go into 500! This is the reason they didn't do as they did with the Desmo where owners of the 999R had 1st shout & the 500 sold out immediately hence the 1000 then final 1500 figure!
I wonder how it will compare to an 1199RS? They were apparently about 40k base cost, plus whatever electronic package you needed, but were only available to the race teams/dealers.... Apparently Honda's v4 production racer will also be unveiled during the November shows....
Moly, Not sure really. I don't need another bike, but the perfect number of bikes is always going to be n+1 (where n= number of bikes presently owned)..... Getting the garage rebuilt at the moment, and also replacing all my push bikes which were nicked in June when we were burgled prior to the garage renovation. So just researching whether or not to go for the new Specialized Enduro Carbon 29er or the 26 version I had previously! So let's see what the shows bring. I am less interested in the Panigale super-dooper-delux only as I already have a Panigale S. Whilst the new one will be fantastic by comparison, it is going to be a similar platform. Am wondering if the Honda will be genuinely different to the others I have already..... but who knows how much that is going to cost...... I should really also buy something practical one day, but it just isn't me! Let me know when you have got yours/pictures - would love to see it. Where are you based? I am in London....
Lets just hope they can win a race or two with it, I guess its coming to suit the new 'Ducati friendly' WSB rules next year?

I was gutted when I saw this until I read that this is the RS that teams buy & thus paint them themselves...we need pics! To everyone who thinks they've missed out, invites to prospective buyers are going out tomorrow!
