  2. Any one manage to fit the power bronze tail tidy?

I had to give up half way through as the provided instructions dont show the steps after removing the body work to removing the exiting unit?

  3. i've fitted powerbronze tt yesterday. took me 4 hours. instructions are crap. in the end i had to pull all the wires through and leave them in the tool kit compartment. not sure on the indicator mounting points, i don't think they thought it through properly. doesn't feel all that secure.
looks OK. definitely better that original one but quality reflects the price. i probably should have paid more and got ducati tt, no idea why i didn't, and now is too late

  4. Yeh - I spent about 30 minutes before realising they left out all the important stages from the instructions so put everything back together!!!

I think I wil get the Ducati one............

For sale in the classifieds section for some one with more patience than me..........

  5. just had a look at it this morning once again. actually it is ok. it is just a bracket after all!i simply cannot understand how r&g,evo and duc can justify charging more than £50 for their brackets, frankly even £50 is too much for what it is...

  6. Very true! If you look at the price of a lot of Ducati parts compared with the same parts for other makes of bike it seems that some companies think that because we are prepared to pay a premium for a quality bike over other makes that it's a good excuse to rip us for parts. The truth is we're fussy bastards not idiots!!

  7. Get the Ducati one, its a no brainer. No cables to be seen, leds, reflector, when you spend 20k on a bike whats another £100 or so extra for a proper job.

  8. I have ordered the Ducati one today. Only question from trying to fit the powerbronze unit with the half completed instructions is how you remove and fit the existing one!!!!

I can get all the fairings off down to the plastic undertray, remove all the screws etc from the tray but it still seems firmly in place. Without the tray being removed I cant see how you can get to the bolts that hold the existing plate holder. Can anyone advise?

    Cheers

  9. Word of warning on the DP Carbon tail tidy. They were designed with Italian plates in mind, not the UK size billboards with a huge reflector on the bottom.

Mine has cracked clean across both metal struts through stress and is being replaced under warranty. Currently it is held together by zip ties!!

Whilst Ducati Aylesbury had not seen this before, both Ducati Coventry and a contact at Ducati HQ at Silverstone have seen this on other bikes too. I do think this is a rare thing but keep an eye out in case.

I have removed the reflector bracket as suggested by someone else on here and added a couple of lightweight plastic stick on ones direct to the plate.

  10. you just need to use long allen key , coming straight off with no problem

I've bought a Powerbronze Tail Tidy in the last few days, but after reading this I might just send it back. I like the look of it, but dont fancy starting takinng the 1199 apart at the weekend to try and fit it and deal with cables and the like. I assumed it was a simple "take a few screws out to remove the old one and screm them back in with the new one"....

Should I even try it? Would be great if there was a Youtube video on how to do it.

  12. Big M - what you have here is exactly what I am after. What size is your plate? I just ordered the Powerebronze unit but after reading this I am thinking of sending it back!! (due to how hard it is to fit and I dont fancy tinkering at the bits of the 1199 without an absolute clear understanding of what I am doing!)

  13. its not that difficult

  14. I have fitted the R&G one to my 899, its not difficult but it does take quite a bit of time as you need to take off most of the covering to get into all the mounting screws. I would say it took me the best part of 1.5/2 hours to change it over. The R&G does come with decent enough instructions on how to do it and you can use the OEM indicators but they looked out of place to me and stick out a mile so I later opted to add mini led ones and of course had to fit resistors to them to slow down the flash rate.

  15. My plate came from www.design-a-cover.com and is 8x3 with 50mm lettering opposed to the standard 60mm (yes I'm a fussy sod). I can't comment on fitting as the dealer did it when I bought the bike but I suppose it depends on how handy you are and how well equipped your tool box is (so to speak!). I would imagine most tail tidies will require a certain amount of tinkering. Peoples opinions on here vary as to how hard it is to fit.

  16. Thanks for the responses folks

  17. ok, got told off by a copper on the bike at the lights for my 9x3 number plate. he told me it is smallest he is ever seen (i don't believe that) he did let me go and complemented me on my pani as well.... he said that if he see me again with that plate he will fine me.

  18. Sounds like a lucky escape!. Just out of curiosity do you have a full 7 digit reg number on your 9x3 plate? I've never had any bother with my 8x3 plate but I've only got 5 digits on it. Maybe I've just been lucky..............so far!

  19. yep, full standard uk number plate with 7 digit's

  20. Bought the powerbronze one, sending it back Monday.
Big silver spacers and the amount it leaves open in the back have put me off.
Will get the Brundtt to replace it.
