test rode the 1290 before the 899 was completely underwhelmed, certainly isn't the beast it is hyped up to be std can is so quiet, you would barely know you were riding a twin not overly impressed by ktm build quality either, certainly not worth the 14k they wanted for it on the other hand after about 5 mins on the duke, i knew i had to have it
sounds to me like this is your problem, you do not need to justify owning more than one bike...get the missus told!
I own the KTM 1290 and also a MTS Pikes Peak. They are quite different. Not sure where you are based but happy to have a chat if you want rather than try and ramble on postings here. Anyone who states the KTM is not a beast after a test ride and with the standard can, hasn't used it properly.
