Discussion in 'Panigale' started by mito22, Jan 17, 2018.

  1. Is that bike stock though?

  2. Haha

I don’t think Moto rapido would risk their reputation.. dealers have done it before though

  3. Bog stock. I think it's his demonstator.

  4. The Dyno Graph posted above says that too :bucktooth:

  5. Fair enough, was just asking as I couldn't see where it said it was that's all.

  6. Downshifting sounds immense and almost seamless.

Nothing like a Ducati box ;)

  7. To my knowledge, there is nothing available for the bike for it to be anything else. Looking at the video, the bike has no front fairing which leads me to believe that it is our demonstrator that arrived Tuesday last week and had the fairing removed for people to see the workings on our open day last Saturday. 8. That power curve from 9-14k is very nice and plenty of revs to play with. Torque barely drops towards the top.:upyeah::upyeah:
Stock S1000rr was more and less the same power when the first generation hit the dynos. Well, I take dyno figures with a pintch of salt if not done on the same dyno.

  9. That's impressive. Can't wait for the SP to show up at some point. From the little info I have found on the web, riders say it feels lighter and more flickable than the 1299. The engine looks an sounds the business, if the thing handles better then game on. Might be hard to justify keeping the 1299 if I leave it behind every Sunday morning.

  10. Aren't most of the losses in the rear tyre rather than the chain?
Basically any loss can only be turned into heat (to a lesser extend noise).
So chains don't get that hot, but tyres do, especially on a dyno.... I lost half a new tyre when I had mine done.?.... all day on the dyno.

  11. I thought that the gearbox was the biggest loss contribution?

  12. Gearbox and chain. Sticky tyre saps results too

  13. According to Wilf on the Book of Face they have a 'dyno' wheel and tyre they use for all their tests to keep it standard between bikes. I dont really give that much of a damn about the actual top figures but I'd love to get my 1199R and S1000RR onto the same dyno back to back and see how it compares.

  14. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a stock rr making those peak figures.. with a system and map maybe though ..

  15. How do they compare by feel/seat of the pants? Which one do you think has more torque and which has more power?

  16. The BMW is faster almost everywhere you are going straight ahead but it feels like a boat compared to the 1199R on both moving side to side and the brakes. The 1199R will leave the BMW behind in direction changes but the BMW will be gone on the long straights. Because there is such a wide range of torque the BMW can have long gearing for top speed and still be an animal low down. This is the advantage that the V4 is going to bring to the Ducati over the V2. It's a lot of pub talk that the marketing guys are having to deal with to always have the top figures as they dont tell all the story. I would choose lightness and nimbleness every day of the week over a heavy boat (as long as power was comparable) hence why I prefer the 1199R on track but the heavier BMW definitely has it's advantages for joe public who is not riding on track all the time.

The BMW actually turns quicker when already leant over in terms of turning circle but the Pani is amazingly easy to get cranked over. So overall they are about the same to turn. You have to do it on the Pani by getting big lean as quick as you can which is maybe more likely to go wrong but at the same time it's one of the Pani strengths. Even at really high speeds it still leans over like leaning a normal bike going at 60mph because there is so little engine mass so it's very quick through direction changes and will leave the BMW behind. The callipers are the same (edit - different!) but again the weight difference makes the Pani much better on the brakes if you are comfortable with it being a bit crazy shaking the rear around and so on. On the other hand because of these things the BMW is very stable and easy to ride which makes it better for fast road riding and places like the Nurburgring.

  17. Calipers are different are they not? Beamer has m4’s or similar and the bigger panigales are m50’s?

The Beamer has the best non m50 brakes I’ve ever sampled it must be said

  18. Really? I always thought they were the same for some reason but never actually took time to check. If thats the case then it explains what I feel well!

  19. I think the cylinder is as well but not 100%
