You pay your money and make your choice. The plus for the PCP is that it is flexible. After 3 years you have the option what to do. If the value of s/h bikes were to fall through the floor at any point then Ducati UK would be the ones to lose out. Whereas if you had that bike on HP, you would be the one to lose out. psallis, what is the difference in monthly payments between HP and PCP? If you put that difference in a savings account for three years how much cash would you have? I've bought my cars on PCP for about 10+ years now without any problems but i can also understand its not right for everyone.
With the 848 Corse its only £3k down so thats a good reason I am doing it. Its been a crap year really with friends being knocked off, friend paralysed and a brother dying so I have got to the sod it I am just going to live stage. I could have got a 5 year old non evo for £6k. In 3 years will probably be worth £4k, so cost over 3 years £2k. The Corse, hopefully will be worth about £8k in 3 years so cost over 3 years will be 3k + 36x 125 -2k = 5500. But thats for riding a new bike, 2 year warranty. Works out £150 a month to ride a new bike for 3 years....
Trouble with the Multi is thats it a separate deal to the one which has just come out. All the other bikes are shown on the link in this page: Special Offers - Ducati Wolverhampton Not sure what the Multi deal is Moto Rapido are showing this for the base model: Multistrada 1200 ABS, now with free panniers For just £159 per month*. How did you get to £7k down + payments + 8500 at the end? The Pikes peak one is only £17995 so doesn't quite work out does it?
Ah I see. I thought where you overpaid the deposit then they dropped the final payment amount. In my case I am over paying the deposit but am actually getting the difference paid back to me once the finance company have paid the dealer.....
Pcp is 74 a month so roughly 100 a month difference. I think I worked out before that if I out the extra 100 into an account I would have saved 3600 plus the extra 3000 px then wouldn't be too bad providing I saved it.
My payements are only 70 a month. The fact it doesn't work out is my hesitation really. Got to way up the pros and cons of pc and just paying 70 a month and maybe putting a 100 a side which would give me a px value with the money saved of around 7k again so new bike after 3 years and potentially same payements again or just simply pay 165 ish a month for 5 years and bike mine.
Just get a loan and pay the larger amount. Simple. Or less deposit and blow the remainder of the cash on 19yr old super fit hookers. Either way works
PCP is basically just renting, so with your multi you're looking at paying your deposit and the total of your payments to rent the bike. If you want to keep it then you have to pay ducati for it. I guess your deal looks like paying 10k to rent a new multistrada, would you be happy doing that with nothing to show for it at the end? I know I wouldn't. Why is it you want to change your bikes? between the two you've got you can do more than a mulitistrada can surely?
i don't think I could cope with nothing to show that's my main hesitation. the reason I want to change is because as much as I love my 999s I don't use it that much and I find that i get so much pain in my neck, shoulders and wrists that I just don't enjoy it and tense up and struggling the next day with pains in my neck. I prefer the gs. But it's quite old and a little underpowered especially two up. Plus I don't drink and don't smoke or really waste money elsewhere stomp fancy a new bike. I would probably look out for a cheapish monster or 748 as a second bike for of I want.a blast.
If you're hesitant don't do it Sell the GS privately, trade in the 999 or use that as a second bike? Get a year or two old 'new' bike?
I don't think I'm going to go for pcp deal to be honest and have applied for bank loan but in current banking climate I'm holding my breath to see if I get it. Ive got both bikes for sale on eBay and finish Sunday so will decide then. The 999 is my second bike but I just don't really get on with it physically now the older I get. Th dealer has a ex demo bike with 1000 miles on it but its silver and only 1200 cheaper.
Its nothing like renting at all maybe its the beer I've consumed but I cant belive people dont get this you either pay for it all or defer some until the end. I give up
