This is the model of tyre fitted as standard to my panigale, our local tyre suppler said the V2 meant V twin that would sugest they are bike specific?
If the rear wasn't like new, yes, I would bite the bullet and probably try a pair of Michelin pilot power 3's. As it is, just re-insured, need an MOT so finances a little tight this month. I would be surprised if the V2 meant V twin. My mate just suggested a phone call to Pirelli UK, may try them tomorrow.
Right then, bit in the arse and a chunk taken out now. According to Pirelli, the Diablo Supercorsa SP has been replaced with the V2 (version 2). Just called their recommended fitting agent in Manchester opposite DMC and they want £170 for a loose wheel!
Think I am having a moment here. Downloaded the free workshop manual but cannot for the life of me find the spindle/brake caliper/pinch bolt torque settings. Anyone please?
For a 10/1198 (NM) wheel - 230 Hub pinch bolts - 35 tightened 1-2-1 Caliper bolts - 25 On the 1098/848 etc the wheel NM is in marked on the casting near the center if you forget it.
Just double checking the front wheel nut torque setting. It appears to be an aluminium nut so 230nm seems way too high? There is nothing in the dowloadable workshop manual and the only other specification I have found googling it is 63nm. You havn't confused it with the back wheel nut torque setting have you spoonz?
They are 1098 values, dunno what you are riding, and the 230 is rear. Good luck trying to get that on a front spindle
Those figures i gave you are all rear. The front is 19 for the axle pinch bolts. Front calipers 45 wheel nut 63
did I read this right......170 for a front fitted to a loose wheel.? I'd either use different rubber or shop around. you should be able to get a pair for 300 max, fitted to loose wheels.
Yes 170 for a front. I shopped around and got one for 138 fitted to a loose wheel. Pirelli anda few other mmanufacturers have put their prices up. Near new rear so I decided to shove a matching front on for now.
Hi, I was going to start a new thread but I figured here would be as good a place as any. As the discussion goes(or went), I also have recently noticed the same abnormal wear on the right side of my front tyre. Tyre is a Pirelli Dragon and although the bike has not been ridden for some time I do remember the bike was very....ummm....unstable. I am in the process of getting the bike back on the road and have just purchased new Ohlins forks and offset triple clamps, which are not yet fitted. Could this be just a road camber issue or maybe something geometry related. Attached a couple of photo's ( I am a terrible photographer ) anybody have any ideas ? The right hand side of the tire has a definite "flat" band about 2" wide around the whole tyre.
I've had the same issue with every Pirelli tyre I've used. The reason I think is the tread design as mine 'stepped' really badly after 700 miles and had a 'channel' in it off centre to the right like yours. To further qualify, this happened on my 848 from new with SuperCorsa's, it happened on my Daytona with the same tyre and then also with a replacement 'Diablo 3' at the time despite my suspension being re-valved and set up for me... and it happened on my 899 with the standard Diablo Corsa front Tyre. I'm 88kg, not particularly hard on the front, and infact in sorted it's self out a bit after a day usage on track. I always keep an eye on pressures but the guy in the tyre place said 'listen it's a pirelli thing, they all do it but they are good tyres'.... I've just switched to Dunlop Sportsmart 2'a as I had them on the 848 and my Daytona and did Scotland tours with no issues. I'm not slagging Pirelli off, they have good grip and feel but I do think they wear differently to others Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks Phil, To be completely honest the tire is still the one that was on the bike when I bought it and I have never had the bike set up in any way. The roads here in Australia do have a lot of camber, so like you said it might just be a Pirelli thing...with a few "other" variables as well...
