  1. Good point. Generally speaking if you suffer damages of any sort which result in you bringing a claim against anybody (not just insurers), whether it's in contract or tort, you should always mitigate the damage you suffer as far as you reasonably can. If you allow extra damage which you could reasonably have prevented, you may end up having to bear the cost of it yourself. Something to bear in mind.
