  1. Are those the same refugees that traveled through several countries to enter the UK. It wouldn't surprise me if the French are supplying the boats.

  2. Germans are renowned for their local-ness with regions often against govts rules. Same as french. And in many ways admired for it: historical regional identity being more important than anything else. But like devolved govt in U.K. in some ways.
Wonder where those refugees are now and what contribution they have made? And I can remember seeing reports that plenty that weren’t clapping the trains in….

  4. They want to come to Britain because of the cash-paid, no-questions-asked by many businesses prepared to take them on in the UK.

  5. It’s almost impossible to pay via the black market now everything is computerised and transparent.
    Well risky if not impossible.

  7. Fuelled up this morning. Asda, no queues. Car reading 30 miles left. Put in 30 litres. Enough for next 10 days. A47. Hinckley. Could have brimmed the car but that seems to be the major cause of this crap. Ducati has maybe 1/4 tank. Beemer light on last time out so 6/7 litres.
    Happy days!.:)

  8. A senior RPE (responsible person, electrical) will gross ~£140k per annum including offshore hardship allowance, overtime and the inevitable juicy company man bonuses. Trust me, I know this. I’ve never checked but I don’t think stacking supermarket shelves offers rock star wages….

For whatever reasons, your mate couldn’t hack it offshore. The clue is in the getting home every night.

  10. You will be right - I have no doubt he just wanted his own bed at night. He had also been there for a long time and had probably built up a decent pension. RPEs don't make that money in the north sea though, I know that.

EDIT: He would have been old enough to legally draw income from his pension so what he was probably meaning was that the pension income topped up with the Tesco income was not much less than his original salary - that would seem to make more sense.

  12. Again that is not the case. There is still a fair bit of cash in hand black market economy going on. Its why Government wants a cashless society.

  13. Mostly thru modern slavery, which was far easier when any Eastern European gang master could bring them in and house them all in one place without fear of checks. It’s who cleans your cars and provide 15 min blow jobs

  14. 15 minutes! Wow! Does that include the cigarette?

  17. I don't read the Daily Express, and perhaps you can enlighten me as to why France isn't good enough for the channel chancers?
