  1. No change here yesterday with only one garage opened out of four for a short period before the motorists drained it dry.

  2. The Black market is shrinking at a rapid rate,.
I’m involved in property development and as such quite used to seeing this highly illegal activity in action!

But not so much since the advent of computerised book keeping and the cashless society we have embraced over the last couple of years.

But the current situation we are facing is without the free movement of EU workers or a liberal visa policy, Britain has an mobility and skills crisis: there are not enough people in the right places with the right skills to sustain the output we are used to. The mismatch will eventually be solved, the solution delayed by our chronically weak training system and housing shortage; the economy will be smaller, people will gradually acquire the necessary skills, but the dislocation will involve shortages, queues, even rationing and very low growth.

    Better book your turkeys now!

  5. Which is a great idea as if we have shortages we go and find those shortages elsewhere and make the rules to fit. Welcome to pragmatic, controlled trade :upyeah:

  6. You're wrong about the Daily Express, and as it happens I liked for Farage. Mainly because he was harmless and funny, and a much smaller cnut than the other 2.

  7. That's because non academic school leavers are encouraged to sign up for worthless Uni courses. It's akin to a peace time national service without the discipline, with the added benefit they get charged £1000's for it. Why would they want to get their hands dirty learning a trade, when they can go on a 3 year jolly on the never never?

  8. Uni courses is another way if the rich and wealthy to cream off taxpayers money and salt it away offshore.
Most Uni accommodation offered by the Unis is little more than a small box and most are owned by offshore companies who don’t pay UK tax.

  9. How’s that fantasy working out so far?

Answers on the back of a petrol receipt to the usual address….

  10. Don’t you see the contradiction or irony that in a thread which has turned into “it’s all the sensationalist lying meedja’s fault” circle jerk, you’re citing inaccurate tropes that have obviously been cribbed from the right wing media.

  11. Most of the fuel stations round here are all empty again.

Doesn't sound like anyone believes Boris and his coven of liars.

  12. Finally we agree on something, six down here not selling anything but chocolate etc.

  13. That’s weird as we seem to be OK round here now. No queues at the two I passed on the way home earlier & all the pumps on as far as I could see.

  14. Education is big business.

    Massive money spinner

  15. Yep. Uni accommodation providers are rapacious robber barons. I’m presently involved in pre-action manoeuvring with the company that own the halls of residence my son was in last year as they want close to £7k from me for Jan - July 2020. They can jog on because not only were they making up their own Covid rules, running the place like a young offenders’ institute and implementing Stasi-like schemes whereby the students were being encouraged to surveille and snitch on each other in exchange for rewards, by law he wasn’t even allowed to travel to or live there. I haven’t heard from them since I set out my legal stall 3 months ago so I suspect and hope they’ve given up.

  19. SWMBO tried 3 garages on the way back from Leeds this afternoon as she had approximately 50 miles left in the tank. Two were closed and the nearest one to us was open but with approximately a third of pumps open. Anyway she managed to fill up :)
