Well said mate. I took him in as a rescue dog so many of happy year spent went him. Maybe in a few years I’ll take on another or maybe even get into fostering one when my sons got a bit bigger
This is Lyra and Ragnar, both Norwegian forest cats. Lyra is pretty dainty for a Wegie. Ragnar is a bit of a unit at 8.5kg (he's not fat, he's big boned). They generally get called Sh*tmonkey and Nugget for what are probably obvious reasons on the plus side they blend in with my somewhat random interior decor colour scheme
They're cute little buggers. Very sociable breed and they're quite chatty. People also say they're hypoallergenic. That's not strictly true but they do have a lot less of the enzyme in their spit that some people are allergic too. So that's kinda handy! They do shed a bit tho but they love a good brush.
Are Norwegian forest cats a domestic cat breed that reverted to living in the wild? Seem to remember reading that somewhere. Here are some pictures of my Rosie (now dead - killed by idiots racing cars through a residential area. She was 4 1/2 years old). She was a genuine hybrid Scottish wildcat, not like some of the fakes on YouTube etc. They are usually found only on remote farms. Bigger, stronger, faster and much more fierce than a domestic cat - I have the scars to prove it. She could also be incredibly affectionate though and made an excellent guard cat - if anyone came about that she did not know she would crouch down and growl with her tail puffed up. So sorry to hear about Rose's fate. That's pretty awful such a beautiful cat. Not sure is the honest answer to your question re wegies. There seem to be a few different versions of the story of their origins. General consensus is that they are a domesticated breed, but that they have their roots back in viking times and may have resulted from interbreed ing between short hairs that travelled with scandi travellers, and then bred with other breeds.
Spooky the rescue cat. Think she might have been a cruelty/neglect case and she has some healed injuries and scars on her. Very timid but bonded with me near instantly. She had been in the rescue centre for ages and I could not leave her there...
Can't stand cruelty or neglect to animals. Good on you for giving her a good home and the companionship she deserves
