Stanley met his fat older dopple ganger in Bridport yesterday. Where he proved very popular with the ladies. Shame they all had blue rinses.
i could do with her guarding my car at work. There are loads of the blooming things bombing cars especially mine
Beautiful There's nothing like it, is there We have a litter due next week. We don't normally, but X-ray on wednesday, just to be sure how many to expect. Last time we couldn't get a scan due to lockdown restrictions, so didn't have any idea how many were in there. We missed one. He arrived 6 hours after the other two and sadly was born 'asleep'.
Yes - we took Luna for a scan - but she would not hold still - so we did not know how many there was Delivery was long - 1.00 PM to 11 PM for the last - she really struggled pushing that one out and we thought we would loose him - and took us 30 minutes to get him breathing stable.. he took 30 minutes to get out - but luckily he was head first and the sack has broken - so he was getting air. We did have one still born too - very sad...... Yes - its an experience.... Not much sleep since... me or the wife pup sitting because she is so big and clumsy - they need to be supervised for feeding. In addition to Luna feeding we are also bottle feeding because they lost weight for the first 2 days - seems she was not producing enough milk - but they have soon rebounded one week on - average born weight was 705 grms - now they are at 1065 grms.
Rule of thumb is that they should double their birth weight in the first 7-10 days. We had one that lost almost 50% !! Bottle fed her and now she's ....
Here’s one from the past for you…. I’ll just set the scene…”Buster” my late great Rhodesian ridgeback ( that’s him in my avatar ) whenever we got visitors used to think that everyone loved him to bits like we did, so he’d want to get up on the settee and sit with us,..fine, but not everyone is so keen on dogs as we are The picture below shows Buster doing his thing, but as you can see from the picture, my mates wife is less than impressed with our great monster parking his butt next to her ,…in fact, she has a face like a smacked arse !! Mind you,..he was 63 kgs, ( just short of 10 stone! ) and had a 23” neck… Are you ready for this…. He was an old boy here, going grey, but boy….he didn’t know his own strength ! Great dog, I would have him back in a heartbeat if I could
So...we had our Meg x-rayed yesterday. A scan at 5 weeks showed 3, but now there's just the one. It happens ( a bitch can 're-absorb'), but means we'll have to keep an extra careful eye on the last few days (she's due any time from tomorrow), as a 'singleton' birth can be a problem for both mum and pup.
