Philip island compulsory bike change

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by ducati2242, Oct 19, 2013.

  1. Imagine is someone gets in Jorge's way on entry or exit...

  2. This is not Reddings year :frown:

  3. I didn't think they could change bikes unless it was dry to wet ( or reverse ) and then only if weather conditions changed during the race?

  4. Catch up Archer...Dorna resetting the rule book again coz their highest-bidder supplier has failed again...its the tracks fault of course, not the organisers

  5. Just read the bit on the other thread! Oops, my bad :)

  6. Seriously, if this adds tension and, god forbid, Bautista wins, they will do it every round!

  7. same thing happened with F1 in America race if I remember, Moto2 cut from 25 to 13 laps. cos they only have one bike!! why cant they just change wheels/tyres or even have a 2 part race, poor punters will be robbed again and its enough to get in let alone only see half races.

  8. Shit hadn't seen they dropped it that far! Its a disgrace.

  9. Motogp dropped to 19 laps. Max 10 before change.

  10. What a strange race

  11. Yep, was certainly different

  12. Best race all year IMO , they should do that all the time :)

  13. Now that's the sort of entertainment Motogp should be delivering every time. Why not make it permanent (bike change ) but with more laps , after all it's supposed to be the pinnacle of bike racing sport so why shouldn't they take aspects of all forms of racing and add a bit of endurance pit change into the mix. :upyeah:

  14. Exciting it was, but what an unholy cock-up all round. The race organizers should be heavily penalised for marking the PLS markers too close to the track, marquez or Lorenzo could have been seriously injured because Marquez couldn't get up to speed before rejoining, and too many people black flagged for infringements. God knows what happened to Marquez' pit stop; did he just overshoot it or was he given the wrong pit signal?

    Certainly makes Japan worth watching...

  15. 'Official' word is it was a combined mistake made by him and his team....... I guess it well could have been but it doesn't strike me as very 'assured Honda' like risking such a close to the bone decision like that.

it was lap 9 or 10, not lap 11 but before you cross the line for lap 12, I just can't see them risking it.

maybe I'm cynical but I think Marquez simply screwed it up and Honda are trying to protect their boy to keep his mind on the job, as you would.

still could be more to come yet, both JL and MM are accepting some blame for the collision, Rossi is slightly saying more Marquez fault indirectly but vocally 50/50 (Marc doesn't care we're his words) and pedrosa saying more Marquez fault as people on track already have priority.

lets say race direction hand out some penalty points, JL can take a couple with no impact, but Marquez? Could get a whole lot worse yet

  16. But the clash was clearly the organizers' fault, not the riders. Marquez accelerated as hard as he could and as far as I can see, didn't do anything wrong, and Lorenzo may have overshot his braking marker, but again did nothing wrong. Had the PLS marker not been so stupidly close to the pit lane exit the incident wouldn't have happened at all.

  17. was there a race ?

  18. A good one actually, especially the Rossi/Cal/Bautista battle. I was hoping Bradders could have held on to fourth, but he still did well.

  19. i kind of agree but its again down to the riders to control their own bikes for the safety of others etc etc

all I'm saying is IF race direction want to continue the penalty point hand outs as per more recent moves then I can see them both picking some up.

the point is MM was exiting the pits and on to an active track with oncoming riders, rule of thumb is stay out the way until they pass if you can't cleanly get a lead on them. He was on cold / new tyres so was never going to get the lead, you could also argue he shouldn't have been there anyway as nobody should be exiting pit lane after lap 10/11 (although saying that he shouldn't have been allowed to leave pits full stop)

itd be exceptionally harsh but I can see them doing it.

maybe that's why JL keeps mentioning it, almost like he wants the wrist slap and then MM gets one too thus putting him to the back of the grid?

    sneaky :)

  20. If you watch a re-run you'll see Marquez take a good long look over his shoulder before gassing it, and there was nothing on track.
