Picked the 848 Evo up yesterday...

  1. Yeah but the ally tank only came in 2013.

    I'll not be downgrading my 2010 model to SE spec anytime soon......I've spent too much on it. ;-)

    Although the 2012 paint job is the best I've seen in a long time.

  5. I've just clocked up 600 miles on me evo se and sti find a false neutral between 5 and 6 when using the quick shifter. My dealer said its normal when running in the new gear box but if it persists after full run in then it needs looking at.

  7. At the moment no reason not to he assured me that if it continued after running in then it would need to be looked at. I have to say that up to now I'm very pleased with the dealer service I've had buying my 848

  8. i think the running in of a gearbox is a red herring..............the false neutral will either be

    a knackered gearbox.....its new.
    a poorly built gearbox...its new.
    poorly set up gear linkage and rear sets...its new.
    poorly set up quick shifter.....its new.

    poor gear changing.....the rider cos its new.


    my money will be on in order

    1 the rider
    2 the cpu set up for the quick shifter
    3 the linkage..

  9. I've never stripped a gear box so can't really comment all I know is for me it only does it between 5th and 6th gear which indictates it's more to do with the machanicals than my foot movement. Ill keep an eye on it but I'm not loosing any sleep over it just now.

  10. just dont use 6th gear then until its "run in" :rolleyes:

    fwiw, if there is a quickshifter/ gearbox issue that is down to mechanical/electrical it generally manifests in between first and second as thats the longer gear change.........

  11. Mine only does it 4th to 5th to 6th but only when I'm not revving it hard I don't think it's a problem the quickshifter is meant for racing if I'm taking it easy I've started using the clutch for these gears

  13. Wee update to the gearbox thread hijack...

    I was out tonight and it was absolutely flawless. Quickshifter was perfect, on the gas hard, on the gas a little, clutch shifts... all the shifts were spot on. It could well be me! I just need to be more positive.
