916 Pictures Of All 748/9**

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Leesey, May 2, 2020.

  1. Think of me if you do :)

  2. The forks you are after are Showa GD051's (not with the -50 on the end), as well as the 00 748R they were on the 916 Senna and possibly other models after the '97 916 Senna. 43mm diameter and 127mm travel. Good luck.

  3. Whatcha want to do that for Tel? Nothing wrong with the performance of those Showa's.

  4. 2nd gen Showa Tin plates forks. My late 1999 build 996 has them and I think they would be fitted to most other than Öhlins equipped after then.

  5. Brouny,
The Gd051 -50 whats the difference to GD051, caliper mount size/fork diameter?

  6. I believe the GD051-50 are non-adjustable and were fitted to late model carbied Monsters circa 00-03.

  8. Roadtrip, the were also fitted to 748Ss for MY01 and MY02 as well as the bikes previously listed, they are the same spec as the later version standard Showas but with TiN stanchions

  9. Thanks Denzil
How are you, on the mend now and any more work on your 748.

  10. Roadtrip, I have replaced the damaged back end so have a complete bike now but it needs to be stripped back to the bare rolling chassis/engine for a trip to Maidstone to check the frame alignment, possible straightening or scrap. There is misalignment around the seat subframe mountings and rear upper crossmember which was only evident when everything was reassembled. Both wheels and swingarm/mounts need to be checked and trued at the same place before I get them refinished. For my 853 project bike I am just a few major components away (tank/main loom/ecu/headlight and bucket) from a complete bike with the back of the garage full of boxes of various bits. Still not fully back at work but am getting more mobile ,recovering strength although still a bit limited in what I can do in the garage. On pain killers 24/7 and doing physio every day. Hope to do a thread on both projects but that is some time away yet.
