  6. I didn't realise 996's came with the 3 spoke and gold frames ? Google tells me 1999 models had gold with 3 spokes. Every day's a school day :)

The stickers are different to mine, they look non standard... Looks to be in good nick though, What else have you seen that needs fettling ?

  7. Don't think it's an S, it was a Bip originally, from what I've been told

It has a scabby open clutch cover, non standard rear indicators, the front end of the tank moves side to side, the clocks are loose, and it has had at least 1 part of the side fairings replaced/repainted, few scratches in the tank, scuffs on both mirrors, aftermarket dzus fasteners, screws on left side panel are wrong, oh, and the key lock for the rear seat pod has been removed, and replaced with a ring pull, Remus cans, not Termi's

When I get a few minutes, I'll have a proper look :joy:

  10. If the front of the tank moves side to side, one of the two bolts that attach the tank spigot that engages into the airbox has probably fallen out.
This may be now in the airbox and could potentially get ingested into the throttle body.
I would highly recommend that you investigate this before riding it as it could cause the butterfly to jam open…which would not be pleasant.

Luckily, removing the tank takes approx 4 minutes.

  11. Looks like a bip rear subframe, it has the lugs for passenger foot pegs. Andy

  12. Good spot... on the lugs. I think all of those issues sound really fixable.. Will be a good project to get back to "stock" Let me know when you find some dzus fastneners, I might treat mine to some new ones.

  13. You can order them new from your dealer BUT they are not the same head design as the original ones. Somewhere back in time the design of the fastener “head” changed. Better off scouring eBay for used ones to get replated if you are after 100% authentic. Personally I wouldn’t bother just get genuine Dzus of the correct size from a fastening company and have plated in yellow passivate.
