V4 Pikes Peak

    Disappointed? He was falling all over himself at one point in the video. As for handling and ride, LCR needs to find backroads more suited to the PP suspension & wheel setup. Also, riding on the 2-up setting because he's a "porker"? He mentions the preload setting, but you can make adjustments within each riding mode to better adapt to your weight and riding style. He needs to set the electronic suspension up properly before making comaprisons to the standard V4S.

    At any rate, looks to me like he was bombing down some English country roads, with very little in the quality of low- & high-speed curves & turns to exercise the PP capabilities. Another YTuber I follow is DucatiBiker, who gave an extended review on some more challenging roadways:



    Here in the Pacific Northwest USA, we have our share of challenging backroads like those experienced by DucatiBiker, where the PP really shines, yet doesn't wear out my back, legs, or arms that would occur if I was riding a CBR/ZX/R1, etc.

    By the end he said he wouldn’t.
    Like everything in life it’s great we don’t all like the same thing otherwise everything would be the same. :)

    The V4 is probably the best distance travel motorbike you can buy.

    Find a really twisty road and there are more fun bikes to ride, imho.

  3. I did chuckle when I watched LC’s review, the first thing I thought was this guy weighs 20 stone and clearly hasn’t bothered to set the bike up properly.

Speaking of suspension setups, I was surprised when I delved-into the sub-menus of the ride modes of my '22 MTS V4 PP and found Ducati sets the default Preload to 24 (highest) for rider + luggage, rider + passenger, and rider + passenger + luggage. I adjusted the preload setting down for all modes, to 6, 12, 18, & 24, respectively, and it definitely helped the ride quality, as I'm 215 lbs (just over 15 stone to the Brits). I also adjusted the dampening to Soft/Medium in Touring mode, which helps with traversing highway expansion joints, for example.

  6. Yup, I purchased the bar end weights for Panigale V4 from Evotech, and using a combination of OEM/new bolts and expansion nuts, replaced the OEM handguards on my PP with the bar end weights.

  8. Both look good. Did you use the evotech Panigale bar ends too? Think will sort that over winter :upyeah:
     
  9. I used the Ducati Rizoma bar ends with the inserts from the standard as they’re heavier.

    No vibration issues.

  13. One thing I considering changing on my PP is the riding position. I feel I'm sat a little too upright. I'd like a bit more weight over the bars. The easiest thing to do would be change the bars for something a little flatter and less swept back. Has anyone done this? How do you find it and what did you use?
     
  14. Surely the upright riding position is the main point of this bike? If you want to be more over the bars, I’d have thought there are better bikes in the range for that
     
  15. I'm not talking about substantial change, more a tweek. It's just my preference. Everything we ride is a compromise. Before deciding on the MS I ruled out the Pani as there are no cruise or heated grips. The SF has no weather protection. The MS ticked more boxes than any of the other ranges (within Ducati). There's a slight change in bars from V4S to the PP, I'm looking for a similar change again. I actually find it more comfortable leant slightly more forward.

  16. I think the V4SP bars are different again from the Pikes Peak.
    That said the real issue is how long the tank is, making it hard to get close to the bars and front.
    I might try just raising the forks through the yokes a touch over winter.

  18. When he went into Race mode he mentioned that the bike doesn't need wheelie control at all coz the front wheel doesn't come up, and you can't even clutch it up as well? I don't think he's giving it enough throttle, or maybe 1 gear to high- I have the DWC set at 2 in Touring and its still comes up momentarily if you roll on aggressively

  20. I'm missing something! I removed the front caliper bolts to remove the bicycle reflectors but when I look through the owners manual there's no caliper bolt torque values? In fact, not a single torque value anywhere! For anything!! Even the detail for adjusting the chain says "take to your Ducati Dealer". Having come from BMW, where they point out every bolt and torque setting needed, its a bit of a surprise (thats my excuse for removing the bolts first without knowing what to tighten them up too). So, where do I find torque values for every day stuff on the PP, or am I just looking in the wrong place? TIA.
