V4 Pikes Peak

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steelboss, Oct 10, 2021.

  1. Glad to hear they're not sending more out of factory knowing they've fitted a dodgy shock. That would be a bit nuts :joy: As mentioned they're already replacing it on bikes in the dealers :upyeah:

  2. From what I also gather there are still bikes that have the issues but still on the way for delivery , as this can take a few weeks from off the production line some are arriving with the new shock to be fitted by the dealer .

  3. Mine hasn’t been built yet, so it’ll be done at the factory, but I wouldn’t be that worried either way, as they’ll be stripping the bike when it arrives, to fit the full system.

  4. I watched a YouTube video with the full Akra on a V4S Multi and they claimed 4bhp over the standard with a 5kg weight saving. A lot of money for that gain and looks no different to the standard PP end can..

    Sounds good though....

  5. Several sources online are quoting up to 10bhp for the full system. The numbers don’t bother me in the slightest, it’s how the bike delivers the mid range punch that interests me.

  6. That's about £1000 per kilo saved (man maths). At least that's what it's costing me for my lightweight 899 hybrid:joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

  7. And a bargain at that!

  8. I have a bad feeling about these delivery dates.

    Hope I’m wrong.

  9. We hope not , my dealer has said that my bike is still due 18th Feb and the new shock arrives at the same time , so he's gonna be busy that month ...:):)

  13. I’ve not seen any back to back tests of the V4 with standard exhaust compared to a full system. Can you post a link as I assume you’ve read something showing how much better the V4 is with a full system ?

  14. It depends on your definition as 'much better' i guess. I'm not sure if you could define it as a full system as it uses the standard headers but it does sound better and appears to give more mid range.

The real issue for me is the fact many EU countries are now starting to use road side noise testing equipment and no doubt in some of those countries being caught is likely to mean the bike is impounded.

  15. I think it’s mentioned somewhere in this video

  16. Agreed.

The fuelling on the V4 is very good and I can’t see any point in spending £1000s on a system.
As you say, noise is becoming an issue especially in Europe.
Some countries have noise sensors on the roads like cameras, and I can’t see the point in risking a fine or worse just to boost an already fat mid-range by a few percent.
It really is just pub-bragging rights for the vain, IMHO.

  17. It’s only for pub bragging rights if you’re hung up on the figures. ;)

Most high end bikes are tested with full systems, then manufacturers have to fit standard exhausts to meet emissions regs. The V4 I test rode a few weeks ago wasn’t perfectly fueled, so I’ve gone for the full system to get the best fueling I can, while maintaining the Ducati warranty.

  18. This is one I watched...

  19. Germany and Switzerland, police are coming down hard on noisy bikes.

The more noise we all make, the sooner race exhausts will be banned altogether.

  20. So about 5rwhp, which is about 8 at the crank. What were the torque gains though? All I saw was power, but had the volume off. Did they mention the torque?
