V4 Pikes Peak

  2. A friend has just placed his order, p/ex his 2018 PP, will collect with new reg in March.

  4. Just make sure its the same colour as the last one :)
    The V4 is red and so was the 1260 - my wife goes in the garage and says "oh its the same as the other one" - job done!

  5. How much deposit are people putting down to reserve a Pikes Peak?

    The cogs are going round in my head, its never good for my wallet!!

  7. Ive secured mine with £500. Delivery could be anywhere between December and March.

    I’m going in next week to finalise the spec and spend a shit load more money.

  8. Going to make another attempt to talk to Ducati Glasgow tomorrow - they seem strangely reluctant to sell motorcycles!

  12. Not sure it looks wrong but the Ducati top box is silly money for what it is. I have fitted a Givi Trekker box to my V4S. It’s more secure, more practical, better made and much cheaper than the Ducati top box

  14. Does anyone have a comparison list of new Pikes vs Multi V4S ?

    I want to replace my SuperDuke 1290R and have it as two-on bike for touring, but can't force myself into old farts territory of GS or Multistrada. Have wanted Pikes Peak for ages, but not sure how practical it will be for touring.

Apart from the obvious Öhlins suspension, Brembo Stylema brakes and Race Mode, the V4PP is 1 kilo lighter, has a shorter rear suspension travel, frame geometry is marginally sportier and it has a fractionally smaller wheel base. Servicing is also different, there is an additional valve clearance check at 9000 miles. If you are not going to use the PP on track, don’t see any reason for a race mode but I do see a reason to have the Öhlins suspension and Stylema calipers. Andy

  16. Don’t forget, the pegs are 10mm higher and 10mm further back.

  17. A small difference yes but could affect a taller rider with more knee bend and hip position. Mind you, I can understand why they’ve done it, crank a Multistrada over and your toes are vulnerable to grounding. Andy
     
  18. V4S comes with the Brembo Stylema brakes.

    I didn’t know about the valve clearance check at 9000 miles on the PP, that’s useful to know. One of the (many) good things about the V4 is the 60,000km (37,500 mile) valve clearance (aka Desmo service in old language), coz that’s gonna be a pricey service.
     
  19. I don’t believe so, no. It’s integrated with the rear subframe which also includes the pillion handles and pannier mounting points. It has a plate on top which moves side to side (Ducatis high speed luggage stability fix) which, I believe, can be removed.

  20. That's a bit annoying, at least on my XR BMW sell a smaller grab handle only part so for normal daily use of hooning around you're not carrying a rack.

    Hopefully the PP has a way to remove.

    On the older PP multi I'm sure a few added a rear end similar to a seat cowl didn't they?
