V4 Pikes Peak

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steelboss, Oct 10, 2021.

  1. Are you thinking of getting one?

They are absolutely brilliant bikes :upyeah: whichever flavour takes your fancy.

From my perspective I really really did not like the look of the Multi with its swooping up and down line and it’s beak, but it was this or a GS and feck it, I can’t see it’s side profile when I’m sat on it:D plus it’s just a brilliant bike to ride. I have never, ever, done a wheelie at 90km/h before but open this thing up in 3rd, flick up with the QS at 10k rpm into 4th and the front wheel lifts up, and that’s just in Touring mode on medium engine power. It’s a laugh a minute, plus also incredibly fantastic around town in urban mode or on a Green lane in Enduro mode. Seriously PP or regular, it’s a great bike :upyeah:

  2. The standard seat seems to fit round the sub frame whereas the higher and lower seats appear to be flatter. Hard to understand but it felt that way to me.

Ii I were you I would try the standard seat on the highest setting before splashing the cash. I've gone to the lower seat on mine as I prefer to feel sat in the bike rather than perched on the top. All personal preference though.

  3. I'm quite intrigued by it, yes. At £25k I'd want to love it so it'll depend what the test ride is like and the other bikes coming up in the next couple of months.

At the moment the choice is keep the XR HP I've got and add something less touring focused like the SF V2, Hyper Sp or even the new incoming Sd 1290r evo (active wp suspension is rumoured) of course all depending on deals and prices.

Or go again with a single do it all type bike like my xr but instead buy the PP

  4. I'd just like to point out if my Mrs is reading this ignore the £25k statement, no bike is that expensive, it's just bravado for the boys on the forum ;)

  5. I have the higher seat and for me it puts you in a more commanding position on the bike as I like to be on rather than crazy frog in the bike lol . It’s really comfortable and a good improvement on the standard which I felt held you in one position as it’s a bit moulded . I had the the 1200 multi S years ago and the new seat whether high or low is a massive improvement as the old one was like a banana and not comfortable at all and restrictive.
I am tall so the high works for me .

  6. As you can see, my photoshop skills are up there with the best of them, but a tail tidy doesn't half clean up the rear end.

  7. Seems like lack of choice when it comes to tail tidy for this model......and essential on any bike

  8. I preferred the black with red frame and highlights of the prototype

  9. We should get some choice over the next few months.

  10. Evotech always used to ask if anyone can lend them their bike when a new model comes out. They then use that bike as a template, and give the owner all the accessories they make for that bike free of charge, as a thank you. Can anyone here with a V4 lend them their bike for a week or two?

As well as the tail tidy, I’d also want some sort of protection for the headers and front of the engine, similar to their offering for the 1260.

  11. On the launch
    Launch video it says 60,000km.

They’re definitely getting there with the look of this bike now, shame about the No.1 on the tank though, not sure I’d want to live with that.

Add on a few bits and bobs and you’re pushing £30k even the heated grips are an extra.

I’ll book a test ride but jeez that’s a lot of wonga.

  12. Not sure you can have a test on the PP as asked my dealer and said they were not having a demo , only the standard V4S. Leap of faith from existing owners ....I have mine coming December , and also I can live live with the No:1 , I like it as I feel the pros more than out weigh the cons.

  13. Unbefuckingleavable….£30k on a leap of faith, I don’t think so, you’re a bold man respec for that.

I’d like a ride on the V4S then the Pikes Peak as someone else suggested earlier in this thread.

  14. I already have the V4 s Sport so for me with the bits I would like the leap it us a small one and one I take in my stride as mine is great so the PP even better . Got to ask but where is tue 30 k from

  15. Don't think that will work because of the rear radar sensor. R & G already make one but its not much different from the OEM.

  16. Just to be clear about this, there is NOT a valve clearance check at 9000 miles, its a type O. Its the same as the standard MTS V4.

  17. Then it’s a typo that appears in 3 different places. I also note, Ducati recommend changing what they call the chain set (chain and sprockets ?) every 12,000 miles. Andy
