jonmark that is very true. Its far worse on a sports bike, or a true sports tourer. Pillions tend to slide all over the place, and especially when braking hard for hairpins and then accelerating out if pushing on a bit. From experience, the pillion touring seat on the multi is a huge improvement. It has a more pronounced hump at the front so stops the pillion slipping forward. The wives often suggest my mates and I should go on the back of each others bikes. So far we have dodged doing so
Top box, not pretty but very practical, something for her to rest on, will keep her away from you, get her to put her hand on your back when braking, stops the headbutts.
My wife is probably the worst pillion! She'll agree lol. Having had a Harley, Yamaha V twin, Ducati scrambler prior to my multi I'm used the the twin cylinder gear change ! Multi took a little while to get right! Can't hurry it up the box and a ton of engine braking in the down shift. Like most V twins ( yeah I know it's a L ) I've changed the position of gear lever a spline or two. Change up like a jap bike but down like a Harley ( lower revs) no hurry! Lol Top box keeps her on the bike and she doesn't head butt me anymore!
I agree but it's still better looking than a topbox and she only used it 2 or 3 times. She doesn't ask for it any longer. I use the base plates for this:
