Discussion in 'Tyres' started by Simon Gray, Oct 19, 2017.

  1. I got 7.000 miles on my last set of rosso corsa. I'm not the fastest but what I don't do is ride hard on the brakes.

  2. 7,000 miles out of one Rosso Corsa rear tyre? :astonished:

  3. First set I got 6.000.

  4. Bloody hell!

I’m not sure if I’m impressed or not ha ha

  8. I did a 600 mile trip on the Metz tyres on a hire BMW S1000RR from the dealer before picking up my bike that had the Supercorsas. Which ones you get just depends on availability at the factory. The Metz are very similar to the Supercorsas; close but not quite as sharp for hard riding, but considerably better in the rain. They are still not like road tyres since they are performance focused track and hard riding tyres for big power bikes. 2-3000 miles is the maximum you'll get out of any of the tyres that are specifically designed for 200bhp race bikes, they are made to give enough grip to use the powers available on the modern bikes and that means sacrificing longevity. Personally I think it's a bit silly buying a 200bhp racebike, then sticking road biased tyres on it and running it with all the electronics turned up as it's got too much power for the available grip and wants to chuck you off at every opportunity. It would be more enjoyable running a bike with less power? I guess you could go to a track and switch the tyres but I'm not sure how many do that??
