  1. His defence is going to come up a little short.

  2. Paddy Power are alleged to be offering the following odds:

    9/2 if found guilty.

    1,000/1 if he walks...

  3. If I was a lawyer I'd advise him to keep his mouth shut before he puts his foot in it.

  7. Whatever the verdict, hope the courts make a better job of it than their Italian counterparts.

  8. I can't say I am following the trial closely, but I look in on it.
I have no idea if he is guilty as charged or not - we'll find out when they have finished.

But a couple of things seem reasonably obvious:
He had an unhealthy interest in firearms, to the extent of loading them with dum-dum bullets. You don't need to do that if you just want to defend your home.
He was trigger-happy having let off a gun at least twice in inappropriate places.
He was happy to shoot at someone behind a door without knowing who they were or what threat they posed. And that is the generous view of events.

So whether he killed his girlfriend intentionally or not, he was clearly an accident looking to happen.

I reckon that if most people who were lucky enough to have a blonde bombshell girlfriend with a law degree who everyone loved and who was becoming rich and famous, would look after them a little better.

Bit odd having a trial without a jury though. Glad I don't live there.

  9. i heard they where arguing about buying a new bathroom door, but she was dead against it. boom boom.

  10. Yip......the UK, third most unequal country in the world.

.....and a couple of years ago descended I to chaos with nights of riot.

  11. Don't get it. Did he shoot her? Yes. Did she die? Yes. Therefore he killed her. Surely the only difference is premeditated murder or manslaughter...obviously the laws in SA must be very different

  12. Indeed. But he's being tried on the premeditated murder charge, ie that he intended to shoot her and the intruder thing is baloney. That's what this trial is about.

  13. So if found innocent, they go for manslaughter?!

  14. Nope. He either gets charged with premeditated murder or he goes free. The prosecutor's wanted a 'speedy' trail, so dropped the option of 2nd degree or manslaughter as a lower charge

  15. Things like adding alternative charges would just 'bring it to its knees' and slow things down

  16. If he gets away with it they'll be stumped.

  17. Well id be off on my toes away from S.A.

  18. He'll get off then.

  19. Yep. I reckon he will.

  20. I'd put money on it!
