Place Your Bets. Can Rossi Win Another World Title?

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Dave, Nov 18, 2014.

  1. Something in mcn or on motogp.com the other week bout Burgess's take on Vale's 2nd in the championship. He was cool. Apparently he was offered the crew cheif spot for miller but wasn't interested as he is to old and couldn't/didn't want to give his all any more.. Happily retired....

  2. Saw in interview with him, very humble fella who seems to have no malice at all towards Rossi and he made the right decision: change was needed

  3. I read it differently after Rossi got rid of him. Burgess said at the time that changing team boss would make no difference to Rossi, and his time was done. His recent results would suggest Rossi did exactly the right thing.

  4. I read that too... think understandably he may have been a little bitter at the time. But from what i have read since he seems remarkably humble (for an aussie) and happy with Vale's call (well maybe not happy but understands it) I think we would all be a lil shocked if ya mate binned ya!

  5. This was a few weeks ago at Valencia, tv interview

  6. Whatever happened, Rossi's resurgence has been pretty gobsmacking. I imagine most people thought he was done; as much as I like him I certainly thought so, but he's turned over every other works rider apart from Marques. And there's still that thought that if he can get close enough to the lad his racecraft could give him an edge.

  7. He re-engineered his riding style to suit the additional grip or whatever they had last year. Took him a year to realise he cant ride as he used to, ala Jorge with fast flowing turns, and beat Marquez and, to a lesser extent, Pedrosa. Also, he'll have seen how all the moto 2 boys ride the same and as they come into the larger class, again more competition.

  8. None of this will matter once Redding gets up to speed:upyeah:

  9. Would love to see any of the Brits on the podium.........maybe win?Redding hopefully to show his class on a competitive bike.I would love Vale to win another crown, sadly I cant see it.He showed alot better than I thought he would this year, so who knows.

  10. In fairness, I've met Miller in person on a Riders for Health day and he was actually extremely friendly and pleasant to talk to. Went out of his way to spend time with us and have a good chat. Agree with you on his riding style though! If he tries his Moto3 stylee racing on a MotoGP bike he's going to be on his arse!

  11. because he's having a much nicer time on his farm being retired :)

  12. The realisation that Stacey moaner had already used all of millers excuses in moto gp slowly sank in to jack.

  13. What will be extremely amusing if if Ducati build on their progress this year and next season, Dovi on the Ducati finishes higher than Crutchlow on the Honda.

I can't help feeling that Crutchlow should have stuck it out. His results in the final races suggest that either he finally sussed out the Ducati, or that it has made some major improvements already with considerably more to come next season. I hasten to point out that I have nothing against Crutchlow - very talented rider.

  14. I agree with the first point, but on the second??
I think that Ducati saw that his only true talent is for binning their machinery and were glad to get rid of him.

  15. I don't think so, because if that were the case, they wouldn't have announced at WDW that he was staying another year. They'd have "had it out with him" by then.

    i reckon.

  16. I think that contracts might have a big part to play, but if he expressed an interest in departing, then they might have opening the doors very widely, along with a large sigh of relief.

  17. It's good to see any of the Brits up in Moto gp class, but Marquez seems to have that little bit extra still. I think no matter which of the top bikes he was riding he'd not be far away "1"

  18. if Yamaha could build a faster bike than Honda then yes it would be easy for Rossi to win, but they don't

  19. Sounds to me that he was approached by LCR the same weekend as WDW. LCR's have a very big British sponsor so wanted a British rider. I think Ducati wanted Cal to announce he was staying with the team at WDW to avoid that issue taking centre stage.
The Ducati was/is the better longer term option IMO

  20. Not sure how a factory Ducati can be a better long term option than a factory RC-V. Matt you are going senile.
