Anyone that lets their insurance run out on a £5k plus bike is off their rocker. Saving a £100 a year, against a £5k complete loss if it's nicked. Madness. OT, I'm still hunting for a winter hack. If I don't get one I'll not have any issues riding my 848 through winter. If you clean it regularly the only risk is of you drop it - which can happen anytime of the year really.
thorough strip and clean on the cards. exhaust polish and possible re-packing of the "silencers". reset the front end rake, as it is too steep ( @bettes will be in touch over this bit and the mirrors ;-) ). some touch up/polish of the paintwork, and maybe a ventureshield kit. Garage roof is getting stripped and re-done as part of an extension and makeover project on the house, so going to have to store the bike elsewhere (family, etc) - not looking forward to a load of building work being done, but it is needed. As said previously, insurance runs all year, may see about dropping the tax for a few months.
Not as many as you mate. I'm not really that mad about it. Just that when I'm in the factory, the bike's parked right next to where I sometimes work so I sometimes forget what I should be working on.
Give us a shout when you're ready mate. There is the option of bringing it over to our place for the strip down. Makes it a bit easier and we'd get it done over a weekend. Ian
I'm going to fit a set of these mini fairings to the 1000SS Have to get them painted red to match and some decals etc but that should do on the Ducati. We get lots of salt needlessly (not always) put down on our road so no way of getting the bikes out, it gets everywhere.
Mine gets put to bed under blankets and plastic membrane with mini dehumidifier underneath during the salt season. Plan to replace the coolant with the Motul equivalent of "Water Wetter", which should have better thermal transfer properties than Ethylene Glycol. This should make fans and radiator more effective in heavy traffic. To stop the bike running too cool on open roads, I plan to replace the thermostat with one that doesn't open until 85 degrees or so. I'm hoping this combination will give me much more stable coolant temperatures than I have now. Currently, the coolant is stable at an imho over-cool 70 degrees or less at speed but rapidly climbs to 100 degrees plus as soon as I slow down.
Yup, it does. That's why I've bought another bike today. I say bike, maybe saying a v5, frame and a few boxes of bits may be nearer the truth....
Loads of grease and PX24 all over it then ride it all year through, same as always, as my road to work is shite in the car.
Just phoned Hyside to book the 899 in for the “big service” ahead of my Valencia trip (and a few added extras), thinking they were going to say “sorry, fully booked for 2 months mate”.... “We can fit you in next Monday if you like” Nearly tripped over my own bottom lip. I take it we're all still trying to eek the last few days/hours/minutes of the summer out lol.
Not got a lot of choice mate. Its either there or head into the utter shitfest that calls itself London.
I like this picture, something very cool about seeing the engineering. Might be a bit over the top for a brake pad change though.
I plan to put my Panigale away for the winter when the weather really turns bad but I intend to ride my Scrambler whenever I can all through the winter
