I think it is an OEM thing..........mine is rounded off as well, but I have a bent swingarm here which has square lugs. Anyway, that doesn't mean to say that the Sachs shock will be OK.........You need to check when it is in place to see if the eye of the shock actually touches the lugs when the shock is twisted / rotated across the bike.
Zhed46, you could tidy up rear brake line. Std it runs inside arm, loops around spindle onto master cyl.
That's not the rear brake line. That's the crankcase breather hose and I had it all unraveled in order to cut it down and fit a little cone filter on the end. That'd be some brake line......it's a stripped to the bone Ducati, not a Scania lorry ya know
I've just seen what you mean in one of the other pics. I'll add it to the bottom of the ever growing To Do list. Oil and filter change Replace cam belts Seal blowing exhaust joint Replace underseat rubber tube support with metal tube Remove airbox and replace with socks Dyno set up Tidy and spray exhaust hanger bracket Spray footrest hangers Replace OE footpegs with knurled units Carbon fibre front mudguard Replace end can with better quality item(?) Re-staple seat fabric Replace shock Grind welding spatter off subframe and repaint Set up suspension front and rear Lithium battery (?) Indicators front and rear (query - need to unwrap loom to locate wires?) Relocate all wiring and crap on left hand side of bike to under the tank. Brake levers Chain and sprockets Paint touch up Paint or polish exhaust down pipes Polish or paint covers Repaint engine And....... Reroute that bloody rear brake line I can't believe that despite all the work I've done on the bike so far over the summer, it still has a 24 item to do list.
Or like a circus clown on a mini moto. I did think all ies had an aluminium swingarm. But since i have a carby then im no expert
You might consider a monster front guard. I put one on my fightered SSie to protect the motor from crud. I chopped 3" off the front end to make it look a bit sporty.
Thanks. That's really useful info. I was actually going to ask whether other mudguards would fit the 900, but I didn't want to keep spamming the forum with multiple questions like a 'tard
I missed your comment above.... Yes, intentional, as are all the other differences. Mine was a 750SS FF, but now it is almost a 900 SS with an 750 engine.......Almost, because it hasn't got a 900 engine.
don't worry about the list of jobs you get one job done then you think of another three to add to the list yep fitted a monster front mudguard on mine direct fit just a slight query you say your bike is 1998 model ie in theory ie models were not made till 1999 and officially not till 2000 ?
Correct. For some reason I keep saying 1998 when it is in fact a 1999 bike. Just a glitch in The Matrix, that's all
As this topic has morphed a bit can I ask if anyone had ever rotated the shock so you can see the chamber on the other side? I have an ohlins shock on a late IE and I get pissed off that i can't see it.
You are right. I lose 2cm on the right hand side. Might have fit if the brake reservoir bracket was not there
It looks as if it will also foul the oil breather catch tank and/or the pipe from the crankcase? Maybe if you remove them and fit a cone it might work, but as DQ says, the shock is offset isn't it? It looks as if it wouldn't fit and the resevoir would hit one of the frame spars on the right. I don't have a catch tank or pipe on my bike so I could run it for you as a test, say for a couple of years or so Or, as you're so pissed off that you can't see the resevoir, there's probably no point keeping it and just upsetting yourself, so I think you should sell it to me
