hmmm... I think you guys are making a case where having several bikes is the best solution! 1) Something like a 1098 for fast days 2) 916 for days when you want to ride a classic 3) An "all-rounder" modern roadbike as a daily ride 4) Then a trackbike... and so it goes on...
Nice 959 with underslung akras for less than your budget here , wont appreciate in value but a lot of smiles per mile and more than adequate power and comfort for UK roads. Looks ace too! 2017 Ducati 959 PANIGALE ABS 955cc for sale for £9,490 in Huddersfield, W Yorks (autotrader.co.uk)
How about something different, you'll probably get a XDiavel for that sort of money,no need to worry about your wrists, great power, handling,it's a great tourer as well, and you won't have to join the power rangers that ride sports bikes.....
I will be letting my 1198s go when I get around to taking some of the mods off. It’s a Zerox rep (from brand new), so not one for the purists.
Save a few £s and go for a 1299. I've got experience with most of the bikes on your list and I find the 1299 super comfortable. Bikes are like shoes, and fit people people differently.
Spot on, I've : a monster, 888, 996, 999, 1098, 1199 (track only) and a MTS 1260 for actual road riding rather than fixing and changing belts etc
I have a Multi V4S and its capabilities are outstanding, probably the most capable bike I’ve owned but I would never say it’s special & is never likely to tug on the emotional heart strings in the way a 916 or 900 Superlight can, which will be why the Multi will at some point be sold/traded etc & the 916/Superlight only when I can no longer ride them.
My v twin PP feels pretty special to me, does everything well and has everything: cc satnav, heated grips, etc , can scratch or tour.. But then I came from a KTM SdGT
I was offered one that had been sat in a Xerox office from new, never been used, they had butchered it to make it look like a genuine track bike. It was a mess, walked away.
Mine was commissioned from new by Ducati Manchester; painted by Rage Designs. It has a letter from them to confirm. I really like it, but over the year’s I’ve had a sense from others that these bikes should remain in original colours. No offence meant with the “purist remark”.
None taken, if the bike is what you want and ticks all your boxes then be happy, stuff the purists, enjoy your bike.
