1199 Popped Into Snell Performance Alton Yesterday

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Monners, May 29, 2016.

  1. 1299 R........ Niiiiiiiice!!! :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:.... that's the problem with "popping" into a Ducati dealership isn't it... I popped into one last year to kill half hour and convince myself I wasn't really missing having a Ducati with and returned a week later to pick up my 1199... get some pics up when you get her.... are you transferring the exhausts from your 1199s (can they be made to fit??) or is it a good excuse for some more shiny noisy bits :grinning:

  2. I went out on the BMW and had a really good blast but then got half way home and decided to go check the trade in figures on a whim! No reason to transfer exhausts from the 1199S, the 1199R (not 1299 as they keep it to WSB regs which are 1199) comes with full titanium system anyhow :)

  3. Sweet , did it cost much to trade up? (I've got an 1199 standard and have thought of going up to an S but can't decide if it'll be worth it just for the ohlins... the R is just out of the question for me, fantastic looking bike though..... :grinning:

  4. So, why the change then? I thought you were happy with the beemer and more to the point don't you already have a Panigale?

  5. S is a definite no brainer best road bike if you have the funds; way better than both the base or even the R imo. Being able to switch settings at the press of a button on the 1199s or the active magic carpet on the 1299s is a huge improvement on overall experience in varying road surfaces.

It's not really a trade up as my current S probably has no equity in it as I have some gravel marks on one of the exhausts which will need replacing. I've done a fresh buy on the R using the BMW as trade in to keep the payments down.

  6. I just dont seem to be able to get really excited about the BMW. It's a near perfect road bike and a ballistic missile but by the time it's been sexed up with levers , rearsets and lightweight wheels it's £18k and that's a big chunk of cash that I'd rather have in a ducati 1199R simply because the R really excites me. I'm not sure how best to tick the road bike box now though, in a bit of a pickle from that side of things but I've got an R coming so nothing else in the world really matters now haha

  7. Yep - same with me....but I didn't commit - test drove the s1000r. And while brilliant didn't do anything for me (lots of stuff I didn't like btw) - but, its the first time ive had a go on something and handed the keys back with no emotion whatsoever...

Road bike: still love my z1ooo over a year on....just trying to clear the paypal balance for a set of marchesini's...

  8. Leather overalls??? :/

  9. I think Ducatis' mechanic had a leather fetish as he took this picture :)

  10. I did ride the BMW and reallt state of the art stuff, but dare I say it no real drama like a duke, I have owned tons of bikes and always keep 2 strokes for a touch of smoke and drama but overall a Ducati is a proper sounding bike with flair, just my opinion, like harleys are OK but all the owners stink and weigh too much with all their badges on, lol

  11. Very true. The three bikes that I own have their own traits and are all fun to ride in their own ways...my 1100 evo sp hyper is for the headbanging hooligan mood...on my third ducati now...and last as this one is staying with me for the foreseeable future...And, its parked outside right now for a trip over to Louigi moto's to collect an ecu...gonna be a fun ride home...

  12. The only non Ducati bike I ever missed was my ZX10r, I think out of the Jap IL4's Kawasaki seem to have a bit more rawness and naughtiness about them which I like... I've very recently aquired a CBR600rr for track duty due to the whole noise thing with Pani's and as much as I would like to upgrade to an S or even an R, I also like my balls attached to me (we're supposed to be saving for a house in Spain)... so for the meantime I'm sticking with the standard and buy nice bits for that I can sneak under the radar

So is the R just going be a track weapon then??

  13. @royalwithcream I completely get what you're saying regarding the Beamer

  14. Haha we're looking at moving out to Barcelona next year as well and all this bike buying probably isn't going to make things easy. We rent anyhow, mostly because all the cash gets lost in motorbikes lately!
I'm actually not sure. I'm buying all the track parts, race fairings, protection, etc as I definitely want to track it but we've been talking about doing some racing which would probably be on something different so it's all a bit up in the air just now.

  15. Cool, Barcelona is an awesome place, love it, my other half is from the South though so we're looking at the Costa Del Sol.. close enough to Jerez and Cadiz so that's my weekends sorted ....

Good luck with the racing if you decide to do it... chuffing expensive bike to race but it was what they're designed to do!

  16. Lovely bike...But f*ck me that's spendy! Fair play...:upyeah:

  17. Good to meet you on Monday Nelson :) Yeah it's a fair bit of money but I'd already put redundancy money into the BMW so it's a decent deposit on the R.
