  1. Thanks everyone for the pointers and suggestions. It's going to be fun...

Spent the last two days getting stuck in. Mileage is definitely genuine, it almost looks like a steam clean would sort it out! Managed to get the engine to turn on the key... spark plugs look new (!) and have started to dismantle the fuel system...powder in the petrol tank!

    Cheers

  2. That's strong money. But I totally get the 'not let it go' bit. Amazing cars :upyeah:

  3. Another great site is:
    https://www.pelicanparts.com/Porsche/index-SC.htm
their bulletin board has been a great help on my 10+ year restoration journey.
Their prices are fair, the shipping is fast and the quality is great.
Don't underestimate how much stock Porsche themselves still carry for these.

  4. So... it's only taken 5 years...! Brexit, Covid, and my folks selling their garage. It's been living in a shipping container :astonished: for the last 2.5 years while I manage about 2 weeks per year of tinkering. But finally on the road...:upyeah:

  6. Best shape IMO, like all cars they’ve gradually become larger but not necessarily better looking.

  7. That looks great, congrats. I bet it's fantastic driving around France in that.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. Unbelievable, had someone throw what I believe to be a big bolt at the car whilst on the motorway...smashing the windscreen. Some people need sterilising. :(:(:(

Don't even know if it is going to be possible to replace... Has anyone had any joy with that epoxy injection thing?? Admittedly the damage is bad, but desperate to find a solution quickly if someone is skilled enough.

  12. That could have been really nasty if it had punched through the glass and hit you.

  13. Bloody hell, what's wrong with people. Was that in the UK?

There was an incident on the M3 a few years ago where some kids were throwing bricks at cars from a motorway bridge. One of the cars they struck caused the car to crash, killing the driver. I'm not sure if they ever caught the fuckers, but hope they did.

  14. Heading north on the M6 thrown from a blue VW transporter T4, I didn't put 2 plus 2 together until after. He came up behind swerved last minute and then swerved in-front, I went "bloody hell what the hell is he doing"...then heard a bang. I didn't get what had happened until a few minutes later...you just don't expect these things. :(

Or of course I'm completely off base and his swerving caused something to dislodge...who knows.

When I put the car on the road I just knew something was coming...just a bad feeling. Need to get it back to France and get it sold! (LHD car)

  15. I had a feeling it would have been in the UK. This country is full of complete imbeciles.

  17. Thanks, whole thing myself. There is still loads of finishing to do, but best to get it home to get it back to utterly A1

  18. Managed to find a second hand oem windscreen... if anyone could suggest the right kind of shipper for that kind of thing I'd appreciated it :upyeah: (it's quite far South from here)

  19. That’s mega mate. Great job looks so far.
