I know, I know... soz flatfish. Should never abuse from a keyboard. I interpreted a post quite sneering. Must be my time of the month
When i did my apprenticeship many moons ago the guy i used to work for had an H plate soft top 964 in white with a blue roof. I used to drive it, acting cool (at least i thought i was). Always fancied one of those as as they got smoother at the front i felt they lost the 911 uniqueness/charm. Just looked at the price of one now
actually its coffee breath, dont you read the coffee thread https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/wine-clubs-and-coffee-clubs.56297/ and appy polly loggies say more about the man, than anything else in my book
and just for the record, air cooled porsche were the epitome of build quality, performance, reliability and over engineering. From 1999 or the 996 series onwards, the germans wanted more profit, so they drafted in Japanese car factory bigwigs, to adopt their manufacturing techniques. This resulted in poor quality, from interior trims to engines and gearboxes. Engines in most types of models have suffered bore scoring, oil starvation, intermediate bearing and seal failure. It may be a small percentage of each model, but its there, and wasnt before. IMO opinion, this makes the cars a time bomb for most second hand buyers, and as I said before, if you have the money to maintain one properly, you can probably afford a new one to start with, or at least on lease. Many wont agree with me, but I wanted to share my knowledge for those who do. Treat air cooled porsches like sports cars, and water cooled porsches with respect. OUT.
Some of what you say is kinda true, but alot of the above paragraph is utter tosh tbh. I have had a fair bit of 911 ownership and the water cooled stuff is no less well built than the air cooled stuff, in fact, I would say the WC interiors are a million times better quality than the AC interiors. Yes, some WC engines had issues, but the percentage was so low, its not exactly a ticking time bomb. The internet exaggerates the IMS and RMS issues to the point of hysteria, its ridiculous that folk keep bleating on about it..... Fecking time bomb !! Behave ?? You also say if you cant buy a new one, you shouldn't buy a used one ?? Again, this is bollox flatfish, just cause someone does not have 80k to buy a new 911, you are saying they should not spend 25k on a used and very good 997 for example ?? What you are quoting is simply internet scare stories, and over the years I have had both AC and WC examples, from 993 to 997, from C2S, C4S and Turbo cars, and I would hand on heart say, that the WC are a much much nicer place to be, and a much better drive, with very few issues. WC cars, buy with confidence providing, like any car, they have been well maintained IMO
[QUOTE="Wayne58, post: 1030132, member: 36907"Again, this is bollox flatfish, just cause someone does not have 80k to buy a new 911, you are saying they should not spend 25k on a used and very good 997 for example ?? es. [/QUOTE] How about 14k and a used 80k mile one....
Anyway, fuck it. Here's another picture of mine.... @Wayne58 you turbo hater! Can't wait for a crisp cool day to spool up those turbo's with dense cool air.... Neeeeeyowwwwwwmmmmm.....
