1200 DVT Positivity For A Change

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Trickyricky, Jul 16, 2016.

  1. I did 12000 miles in under 6 weeks after taking delivery of my brand new DVT Multistrada S in May / June 2015. No issues whatsoever. Rode throughout Europe sometimes doing 13 hours of riding a day. Wore out two pairs of boots on the roads of Corsica. Just done another 5k miles across Europe in 3 weeks two-up. Again no issues at all..!

  2. As a side note, my bike is now 13 months old, has covered 28k miles and genuinely looks like new...!

  5. It's clear to me that models fitted with top box and panniers are the most reliable :grinning: We've also recently completed a 1700 mile round trip to the Assen MotoGP, 2-up with full luggage, without a missed beat.

Interesting comments about the top boxes, I had a Givi V47 box from my previous bike and decided to re-use it rather than springing for the Ducati box. My wife had not previously complained when it was fitted to the ZZR1400 but on the MTS she felt it was digging into her back. I coughed up the money for the backrest and now she can sleep comfortably on the back again.

Is there no financial limit to the things we have to do for our riding pleasure?

  6. I only posted this for a laugh after a couple of glasses of wine, never thought it'd strike such a chord....

  8. What back rest would that be ?

  9. This one.

  10. ... but it looks like you could take a spin to BykeBitz in Yateley and see it before you buy.

  11. Well, I thought I would praise my Dvt publically, after all, the model has been getting a bit of a slating on here with 'what's been at fault with your Dvt' threads & the like, I'm not knocking that at all, it's useful for us all to hear of owners experiences, both good & bad
But bloody hell, I'm in BIG love with my Dvt, it's just shy of 1400 miles, I can't wait for the engine to get a tad looser & really come alive !! & also get the stock Scorpion tyres off her & fit something a little more lean angle friendly!!
Sometimes I just want to say to leather clad scrunched up sports bike riders, hey mate !! have a go on this, I reckon most would be very surprised
I've been motorcycling since 1997, I've owned a fair few machines, from a 650 Bergman to an R1, but I can honestly say the multi really is the mutts nuts,it does it all & then some!
Yes she's bloody thirsty & yes the fuel gauge doesn't know wether it's coming or going, but I've never owned a bike I enjoy riding so much, carried out the 42 tooth sprocket mod on the weekend ( which I can't recommend highly enough ) and it's just put the icing on the cake !!
I'm one truly smitten Dvt owner
    Steve

  18. I'll moan, the dvt has spoiled me for any other bike. Tried a VFR1200 Xtourer and was appalled at the ridiculous contraption it seemed to be (damn nice paint though). After 25 years on VFRs the DVT has renewed my passion.

  19. I owned a 2003 vfr 800 ( first of the vtec ) great bike, only sold it because I fancied a change after three years
I made the mistake of only having a 20 minute test ride on a 2013 vfr 1200, I bloody loathed the thing ! Terrible fuelling was the main drag, kept that for 5 weeks! , luckily thunderroad ( Honda dealer ) were understanding, I did lose a bit on it, but I've never been so relieved to see a bike go!
Probably why there are a lot of 2nd hand & high owner vfr 1200's around
Anyway, sorry, bank on topic ....

  20. Have 14,5k on mine, went to tank and the guy at the gas station was all praises about how pretty new bike, told him it's second year already riding around Greece. This summer I plan to take the bike down to Crete and the islands, can't wait to shoot some great photos in Santorini with the Caldera in the background.
