1200 DVT Positivity For A Change

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Trickyricky, Jul 16, 2016.

  1. Well just come to the last day of our 2 weeks in Spain, despite temps of over 40 in Merida and 2000 miles the MTS had been brilliant and behaved itself until now. Started up and showing empty, fuel sensor has gone again, 2nd one, I can live with this till I get back, have they now finally bought out a reliable replacement or do I need to book the bike in for a 6 monthly replacement programme.

Apart from this little set back it has been great, 2 up with full luggage and top box, very high temperatures due to a heat wave, hard riding and long distances it's been brilliant and has gone a long way to forgiving it all the previous troubles but would expect replacement parts to be an improvement and not keep failing.

  4. My DVT (reg May 2015) has now completed 12,000 miles.

It seems to be running better than ever. Lately the engine is getting more free, gear change is lighter, fuel economy is improving; I think it's just about run in now. I am still hugely impressed with both the handling and the roadholding.

Nearly everything works just fine including the fuel gauge (the sender was replaced a year ago), but the bluetooth still doesn't connect very well.

After fitting the foam grips, larger footrests (from the Enduro), and inflatable seat pad the comfort on long rides has improved to an acceptable level.

Would I swap the DVT for anything else? No.

  5. Good to hear the happy story's. Love my base model DVT. But display memory issues (odometer/clock) twice, sidestand recall. Recently on/off button and steering lock problems (which I was told by J&L Motorcycles Carlisle were rider maintenance issues not in-warranty Ducati dealer responsibility!), bubbling paint on ducati branded Givi rack, exhaust valve seized (dealer disconnected) and now engine management light on! Bike is great when it's working. But a 90 mile round trip and 3-5 hours out of the day each time is plain daft and the 450 miles and hours taken off work is a pain in the arse. Could gave been a great ride out somewhere nice! None of the 20+ Japanese bikes I've had over the years has ever caused so much bother and now resentment. If that DVT engine wasn't such a peach!! Over 5500 miles now. Fingers crossed for the next 5.5k! Sorry to bemoan the DVT but it's a love / hate bike for me!!!

  8. I did mention some positives :)

  9. Bought my 1200S DVT new in May and have put on about 3500 miles now, including an almost 2k mile trip to Bonnie Scotland. Slight issue with warped front discs, replaced under warranty by Seastar in Norfolk but apart from that it's furkin brilliant and I love it! Positive vibes man, positive vibes..:thumbsup:

  10. Took my standard DVT out for a blast today, after giving it a thoroughly good clean. Bloody hell it's superb. Hilariously good fun - it shouldn't be allowed.

I actually really like cleaning the bike - I take my time and just enjoy getting it all nicely sorted.

The ride home via the coast road Linton , lynmouth, porlock, dunster, was stunning, bike just gets better and better 7.5 K miles. Great day to at Ilfracombe, friendly lot and some good machines on display

  12. Pfft. you sound like your in the same area as me? J&L is a 250mile round trip for me to, they want me to ride there so they can have a look at my back light problem, then if they think it's cover by the warranty to go away and ride back again to get a new one fitted.

Oh BTW to stay on topic, I don't moan about my 2014 S GT I've been around Europe 2 up full luggage twice now plus various Trips to the NW200 and I have to say I'm still in love with it despite some small issues 23k miles of hard riding and counting.

  13. Well then, the 1600 miles in that Scotland was epic. Right over the top and nearly everywhere in between. Up mountain, down mountain, farm tracks, three digit sweepers, hideous rain, cross winds no bother. Absolutely love this bike, well chuffed with it.
Centre stands gotta go though :tearsofjoy:

  14. DO the people who switch to 14T in front stick to the stock ones at the back and vice versa? Or do people usually do both?
