Possible Purchase 1199s

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Bob Green, Feb 6, 2015.

  1. How on earth don't you pay vat on a pch? The prices might be plus vat in order for a business to claim vat like they would for other purchases but doesn't mean it's vat free lol

  2. Being a Yorkshireman I too am a tight git but heart is ruling head in this instance! :)

  3. I think first you need to decide if you are planning to pay the end value. If the answer is no, then buy the newest bike possible for your deposit and monthly payment.

I personally think PCPs on bikes don't stack up too well. Remember that next time you'll need to find another big deposit for your next bike as you'll only have small amounts of equity at the end.

  4. You are not buying it, you are hiring it. PCH = personal contract hire.

  5. Correct.

Please explain how the payments exclude VAT?

Bearing in mind Ive sold PCP and PCH for the last 13 years every day I'd love to hear it.

  6. The way it was explained to me when I queried why PCH worked out cheaper than PCP is that if I go to Ford they are not selling me the car they are hiring it to me. The amount I pay monthly to them is based on the depreciation on the retail price of the car, not the retail price + VAT. You pay VAT on your payments, not on the car in the first place, so it works out cheaper.

If I'm wrong I sit corrected but that was I was told.

  7. trust me that's all wrong.

  8. Fair enough. Why is PCH always cheaper than PCP then? I'd like to know as I use a PCP/PCH for my car.

  9. Pcp can be cheaper. My mrs fiesta is £80 a month on pcp but on pch it was 115+ vat.

  10. Fair enough, I was mislead it would seem.

Anyways, back on thread. Its a lovely bike. On my death bed I expect to regret more things I didn't do than things I did.

  11. That's a Ducati Leeds bike, their prices were always over the top for me, bought my 1199 from JHP instead at £1800 cheaper.

  12. Don't do it. You're saddling yourself with a finance plan for what? A Sunday bimble? A bike meet show-off?

It's one thing buying a posh Ducati, another thing entirely putting yourself in debt to do so. Bikes are hobbies nowadays, not transport. I could understand the need for finance if you had to get to work somehow, but for a weekend plaything..?

  13. Exactly as Figaro says. Whilst it is indeed a stunning looking bike, the novelty will wear off and human nature will having you pondering " should I have gone for the 1299?"

  14. Yep....i agree to a certain extent fig but, i it brings you pleasure then what the hell....i havent been on my rsv for the last 3 months but by fuck when i go in the garage i cant stop looking at it thinking....fuck yeah... i own that.....moreso if i owned a panigale...!

  15. Guys, appreciate all your input. If it was a Yam or Kawasaki I was talking about my head would definitely rule the day.

I used to own Mk2 Focus RS, a fookin wonderful and totally mental car. For the 3 years i had it i paid through the nose for it both on finance and general running costs. I only used it on the weekend but what a car....ultimately I swapped it for the rather more watered down ST and saved myself a packet but regret it to this day.

A purchase is imminent I think.

To the lad who said it was probaly over priced, been of offered similar age but standard bike for £14.5 k but 10,000 miles no Termis,no carbon bits , and 8,200 miles more.

The Panigale fits into this bracket of must own at least once in my life.

  16. Stupid phones, apologies for disjointed message above.

  17. I have just booked mine in for its first service, went out today and covered the last 120miles of its first 600 it will be serviced this week and won't come out again till it warms up a bit. All my previous bikes have just been summer weekend toys but they do more than 6,000 miles a year :) and the grin factor is awesome.
Mine is on PCP and I don't regret it.
My 899 was on PCP and after a year and 7,000 miles all I lost was the VAT that I paid :)

  18. What, you stole it but thought you had better pay the tax man as he always wins :)

  19. Something like that Lisa.

  20. You do confuse at times, show us the maths :Shifty:
