Possible To Retrofit The Screen From The 2014 Multistrada To The 2012?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by JimboP, Jul 30, 2014.

  1. I'd definitely like to borrow your CalSci screen sometime if the Givi Clip-On doesn't work for me. I'm planning on doing a tour of France and Switzerland ending up meeting friends at Spa, leaving 30th August so sometime before then would be good. I'm in Fulham, so it'll be easy to pop down. I take it it's just a quick allen key job to fit?

  2. If you want to borrow it then you would need to come next weekend as I'm away after that... (or I'm home all day tomorrow)

  3. Next Sunday any good? Late morning?

  4. Sent you a PM

  5. I'm 6' and have the 2014 GT screen, I also use a peaked helmet and have no buffering at any speed with the screen up. even on the Autobahn in Germany last week I was hitting speeds of 135+ and still felt nothing no head wobble or gusts. it's a bit annoying sometimes even with it down I cant get it to blow the water off my visor in the wet.

    I'm not sure you can just swap the screen even if you get the part over the head lights, I'm sure I read somewhere that the LED lights are narrower than the older version.

  6. Nice pic JC! Where was that taken? Plus....what tank side protection system are you wearing?

  7. It was taken on the road to Hawes in Yorkshire
    The tank protection is the standard sticker that came with the bike, but I don't have them on anymore I kept caching the sponge on the pointy bit and it started to peel off.

  8. I have the Givi touring screen on my 2012 bike for the colder months, I find at the highest setting wind is pushed to the brow of my lid and noise / wind blast is reduced massively. I'm 6ft1 and wear an RX7GP and find this combo fine.

  9. I am sensitive to wind noise - to the point of paranoia.

    I have a 2012 S Touring. The OEM screen was useless. The Ducati touring screen was expensive and useless.

    I now have the Eagle Screens winglets (from Australia), Aztec spacers and a CalSci medium screen and the combination is close to perfect. I can cruise at any speed the bike is capable of doing with visor up and happily hear my satnav and/or music.

    The combination is so good, I've opted to keep the 2012 bike rather than trade it for a 2104 because the winglets aren't available yet - although I think CalSci do now have a screen for the 4-bolt bikes.

    I tried a 2014 Skyhook bike, wanting to buy one. IMHO the suspension is inferior to the Ohlins of the 2012 bike, the twin spark head makes not one iota of difference and the wind protection of the OEM screen is laughable. If that bike has ever seen a wind-tunnel it can only have been with a 10 year-old in the saddle. It was quite simply the worst new bike riding experience I've had this year.

    But remember...

    Other opinions are available!:upyeah::upyeah::upyeah:
