  2. I went to Cartagena last weekend with my 16yr old son. His bike died end of first day, so he rode my R1 for rest of trip and I went on pit crew / spectator duties instead of riding :(
He got on pretty well with it though left.jpeg Mikey Cartagena MickPic.jpeg

  4. Here’s a video too
His best lap of Cartagena this trip was 1:37 but there’s a few 38’s in this video

  5. That is very fast indeed. I sense you may be spending more time in the pits......

  6. I've gotten used to that now. He's been in BSB for the last couple of years in JSS, and next year moves to Stock600, so I have neither time or money to do much racing, or even riding the track at all myself :(

  11. Anyone going to Andalucia Feb 14-17th with NL?
    I can't bloody wait.

  12. I'm there a few days after. Have you been before

  13. I only ever managed 1’40 and 41’s at Almeria on an old Zx10r, but I’m an old fat guy

So decided cycling on these roads is more favourable

  16. I went last year, quite tricky to learn, I hated it at first, but once you get it , its great fun

  17. When I had my F3, I was going to get Ohlins fork internals, but I was paranoid about loosing the front end feel. It's odd, the suspension isn't very premium yet I had so much bloody feel for the front end it was telepathic. I do miss that bike for sure.

  18. Sounds like a case of - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I think we all have a tendency to go for the shiny and expensive upgrades before exploring the proper setup and limits of the stock equipment on a bike.
In no small part because it’s part of the fun of owning bikes!

But unless you are really fast or massively outside the average height and weight range the I think stock forks on most superbikes are easily good enough.

That being said a lot of the guys that do the euro trips are at the sharp end of the the advanced group and some have done some racing so they are much more likely to benefit from higher end gear.

I put Maxton race internals in my 959 and to be honest I wish I had saved the money as the stock Showa big piston forks weren’t actually giving me any issues. I just saw the internals on Ebay and got carried away! :yum

  19. Yeah, I had a similar thing when I was in Cartagena and the suspension guy was telling me I needed to get a thumb brake as I could use it to control the wheelies more and use it to keep the bike turning into the corner. I smiled and nodded knowing I've got a few seconds to get rid of before that stuff starts becoming an issue!
