It's monstrously fast on the straights. I'm not sure what it was, but I really struggled to get the power down out the corners in Cartagena The only thing I can put it down to is that the Suspension was set up by Colin at 100%, but then recently serviced by my local Ohlins dealer. He said that the oil in the shock was a right mess, so it might be that Colin had set up tired suspension, and the refresh has put it out of kilter. Either way, I couldn't get any drive grip onto the straights, but once up and running, I could pass pretty much any bike
Some wet a dry actions from my track day in Portimao. Was amazed with the amount of grip and feel form the Bridgestone wets, apparently i go better in the wet than i do in the dry!
Good shots Baz. I think the biggest take home from the Portimao trip was how mind blown everyone was by the wets! I've got a completely different view on wet trackdays now
What wets were you using? I want to prepare myself properly for next year, had too many wet track days and don't feel confident in rosso corsa's.
When someone asks me if i am a man or a mouse about riding in the wet, I no longer have to say pass me the cheese! I am looking forward to using them again, also means open pit lane and less people on track! I was using the Bridgestone W01 Wets. Speaking with a few people i don't think there is much in it when its come to performance, all brands are pretty good. It just comes down to cost and personal preference. I can guarantee if you used wet tyres on a wet track day you would be amazed at how well they perform when up to temperature
Elaborating on the 'up to temperature' bit, it also applies if they are 'down to temp'. When it was drying the wets didn't feel very confidence inspiring but when it was raining properly they were super good.
I see the W01 tyre is a 190 width, does that mean I would need 6" wheels? I currently use 180 tyres and have 5.5" wheels.
Just found these details 190/650 R17 TL NHS W01 YEK (Soft) (5.50-6.00 rim) (600cc & Superbike) R i think 5.5 rims should be OK. Link below. Bridgestone Battlax W01 Racing Rain Tyres | Cambrian Tyres - The UK's No.1
As above, I used 190 Metzeller wets in Portimao with @Bazz and @Sam1199S on the standard Panigale R wheels.
Found another video from Brands a while back, check out the guy on the repsol blade at druids on lap 1 #arsetwitch - comments welcome as always
